We're probably not alone here when we say that we have a penchant for European minimalism, and the latest out of the audiophiles at
Geneva Labs certainly doesn't disappoint. With five different models (the Models S, M, L, XL, and XXL), the firm has put together arguably one of the most aesthetically pleasing audio lineups on the market today. From the incredibly sleek rounded edges, to the hidden LED display behind the speaker grates, the attention to detail is second to none. We're also crazy about the touch sensitive control panel on the Model S, which can control your iPod's menus from the panel or from the bundled remote control. Alright, now that we've successfully whet your appetite, check out some hardcore audiophile erotica in the gallery below.
Hipsters Ahoy!!
First to be downranked!!
do the led numbers indicate decibels?
I believe they took their inspiration from a decidedly less appealing source. Any one else getting the microwave vibe??
@Drummrgy that was my first impression. a microwave with a built in ipod dock. they are definitely ugly.
Minimalism = complete lack of design sense.
@psycros
you couldn't be further from the truth.
and the comments left on this post lead me to believe that we will never advance as a society to better design and aesthetics in modern architecture and design in this country.
I'm not feeling the same joy for this thing that Jacob did.
Also, the LED on the white reflects too much. Doesn't look good at all.
crapgadget contestant?
It keeps amazing me how thick you need to be to buy high end (high price tag) extensions for your iPod. It's like connecting your dusted VHS to a FullHD 3D plasma. It will play, but what's the point?
oh man, those things are fugly.
Sorry engadget but ipods are not for audiophiles.
The Geneva kit is nice for a person looking for a simple solution to playing music from an ipod.
For proper sound from an ipod you need a wadia itransport which bypasses the ipods audio circuits. It basically turns your ipod into a harddrive and takes care of the audio for itself. A good idea for sure, it's just that it costs $300+. Like the Geneva it's for people with more money than brains.
At first glance I thought it was a spa-cabinet towel heater with a built in iPhone dock on top xD
I listened to one of these at the DWR store in Chicago. Actually sounded amazingly good. Audiophiles might not be happy because there probably aren't enough specs and buzzwords associated to further inflate their illusory extra-sensory hearing capabilities. They sound good and look great, depending on your home's design aesthetic. Seriously though, you supposed audiophiles out there, get a life, you can't tell the difference between an mp3 encoded at 320 and a non-compressed example. In fact, in studies, self-proclaimed audiophiles could rarely tell the difference between files encoded at 192 and non-compressed examples.
