doesn't the HD2 have had this for a couple of months already?
For an extra $30/mo after the first $30/mo for smartphone data, this isn't terrible interesting. I can wifi tether to an unlimited number of devices for $10/mo TOTAL on my E71-2 NAM on AT&T. Beat that.

Yes, the HD2 can be used as a wifi router too. I purchased mine unlocked, and it was an included app. So no extra fee on top of the regular data plan. I don't think there is a limit to 5 devices either, but I haven't used it with that much devices so far.
HTC has had a WiFi-Router app on all of their WinMo phones for a while- it can also run on ANY WinMo phone- don't hate just to hate, WinMo is pretty powerful- and can do just about everything that appears to be breaking news for other phones
