Sony Pictures has 3D Blu-ray titles in store for 2010
In what is sure to be just the beginning of announcements from studios getting behind 3D Blu-ray, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that when Sony Bravia 3D HDTVs and Blu-ray Players hit the street this Summer that at least one movie from said studio will be available in the new format. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs is the first 3D title on the list, but details and other titles are promised this Spring.

I will wait for when the IMAX3D certified bluray players and tvs come out. Whenever that maybe..
They need to stop with this 3D rubbish.
I don't want my films with this rubbish 3D technology, I want it with virtual reliaty goggles.
@dedparrot oh please, just stop the whining.. all you naysayers are starting to get on my nerves. Just wait and see before you start crying about 3D. i personally love it! 3D is the next leap in home entertainment plain and simple. Just watch.
@dedparrot Not sure how serious your comment was, but did you ever consider that 3D would be the iteration towards VR/star-trek-holodecks? It took many steps to get from magic to Newtonian physics to relativity.
@dedparrot
Then dont buy it.
Problem is 30% of american wear glasses. Unless we get a breakthough in lasik or eye correction technology in low cost, I don't think 3D ready will be hit the main stream market.
@techlord The 3D goggles fit over your glasses.
@rlopin He's been taking off his glasses ha ha ha!
Is this going to work on my "3D ready" Samsung DLP or am I going to have to purchase another "3D ready" television?
3d is gonna be the biggest flop, in 2009 people finally started getting their flat screens, no one is going to upgrade to a gimmick
@mark29
I agree. I tried it on a number of recent movies and much prefer the 2D versions, which is much brighter and sharper. 3D is a step backwards, IMO.
@mark29 Mmm hmm. Did you not see Avatar and the billion+ dollars that brought in? True, the home screen is different and past 3D home movies utilized that old school red/blue thing. But new technology is out there to make home 3D more like current theater quality 3D.
My household has planned to get a 2nd (bigger 50+ inch) flat screen for a while now. I'm actually of the mind that we wait until 3D comes out, which, according to Sony, will be later this year. People can and will upgrade for this "gimmick." Gimmicks are selling points and consumers eat gimmicks up all the time.
@mark29
there is nothing particularly technologically special about these new "3d" screens, that's why different companies are throwing out all these models all of a sudden. these screens just have fast refresh rates and shutter glasses adjusted to them. so, you're notion of having to upgrade anything, is not necessarily true. most of the previous new flat screens are "3d" capable anyways, you would just require the proper goggles.
Any Word on 3D SONY SXRD front Projectors ?
@JTD
Any word on DLP 3D front projectors? I prefer the look of DLP to SXRD (LCOS).
Also can you ask Warner Bros. if they are going to re-release Final Destination 4 on 3D Blu-ray?
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs? Who's going to upgrade their hardware for a second-tier kids movie?
@(Unverified)
Ya cause that's going to be the only 3d movie ever offered. Why upgrade your hardware that can only play one movie? That's just silly.
I'm wondering what impact will be on conventional animation studios if stereoscopic 3D catches on?
