ThinkPad X100e does the video unboxing thing in glorious white
Deep down, we all sort of knew that the day would come when a ThinkPad would finally feature more color than its signature keyboard highlights -- and the company obliged such trepidations with not one but two new color-loving 'Pads announced here at CES. One of them, the "definitely not a netbook" X100e, has already found itself being candidly photographed while making its way out of a retail box. Featuring a comprehensive gallery of angles of the new machine -- which include some comparison shots making the X200 look bulky -- the read link should provide plenty for the ThinkPad loyalist that wants to be in the know. If you want it quick and dirty though, video of the unboxing awaits just past the break.

Bow chicka wow wow. I love thinkpads
Eww ThinkCraps are for poor people. Get a MBP.
@Comment
HAHA!
....-_-"
Except I doubt a MBP has a roll cage to protect the comp from damage, and protecting the motherboard in a way so it doesn't crack.
@Patlex
Yeah well...this probably doesn't have it either haha. I love my T400 i'm currently using and man! everything is reinforced. Anyway...I use CAD and everyone in the silicon valley knows...Thinkpads are for REAL ENGINEERS.
BAHAHAHAHA!
@Comment
ahem.
HAHA!
Is this gonna be intel CULV or only AMD?
@Peytral
Read link says ARM Althlon. So AMD
They managed to pull of that battery hump rather stylishly.
@DrEngrish
True, but the comparison photos with the X200 still made me laugh - the battery hump makes them almost exactly the same size...
Then again, for true long life you need to add a hump to the X200 as well... but on the other hand, you'll probably get 3-5 hours more out of the X200 with hump than X100e with hump. :)
So I'm still GASing for an X200. Or a T400 WXGA+ with LED backlight...
too bad the battery life is dismal. if it had 8 hours of battery life i'd be on this so quickly.
@Eraser
How _is_ the battery life?
@bemymonkey 4 hours with 6-cell battery
So can I finally have a decendant of the s30, or should I wait for Apple to build revolutionary new Powerbook 12"
I really wish Lenovo would stop sullying a once great brand.
White is the new black?
Wait a minute. It's white only on the outside?!?!
I'm not a fan of white on Thinkpads but it would be far more suitable to make the whole "ultraportable" white...
The Heatwave Red is sexy with the black inside but this is just tacky.
@vVv
Agreed. Way too much contrast. All black is the best looking variation of this machine.
At last, a laptop worthy for the working StormTrooper
@(Unverified) That just made my day. Best comment of the day right there.
Nice stylish machine!
But I prefer the Black version. Can't wait to see the actual machine.
Like many mobile machines, it sucks that the SD card reader only takes "half" of the card. (half remains outside)
I think it's big cons cuz many people (including myself) like to leave an SD card in the machine all time to use with ReadyBoost...
Is it really that hard to find that extra 1cm space inside the shell?
@Pork
My x200t takes the whole card, my old x61t as well, and so does all the t41-t410, as far as I know
Wouldn't people rather have a x200s with a 9 cell battery for less than $900 after instant savings and coupon than this? About the same size, cooler running more powerful CULV SU9400 that will last for 10 hours but with the 1 drawback of 2gb memory and I guess integrated Intel graphics is a draw back if you were looking forward to the HD3200 for gaming or something.
it looks like someone is microwaving it
