LG Rumor Touch hands-on
LG launched another Rumor set on Sprint yesterday: the LG Rumor Touch. As you all likely sussed from the name, this iteration brings touchscreen -- resistive -- to the mix and it also comes loaded with a pretty stellar keypad. The touchscreen is pretty sharp as well, both with the haptic feedback when using it, response to your finger's pokes, and the quality of the display itself. The feel of the set is a bit light, -- but it doesn't extend to cheap -- the slide is solid with nary a bit of rattle, and the fit where the device's various edges meet is good. A standout, while trivial, are the themes the Touch supports, whereby, depending on season, the UI changes to winter, turkeys for thanksgiving, and, well, you get the idea. While we covered off all the specs yesterday, we learned today the Touch Rumor should ship for mid-March, but still no word on pricing. So with that, why don't you drop below and have a peek at the gallery and watch the video walkthrough we put together with one of LG's finest.

A dumbphone is still a dumbphone
@JeremyBenthem Sprint's realeasing no smartphones in CES maybe? With Palm Pre Plus and Nexus One, I kinda hate to be with Sprint at the moment.
@mikmik111 I'm "with" Sprint at the moment but every day it feels more and more like they are against me.
I really really really wanted the HD2, a second would be the upcoming iphone 4G (rumored to be coming to Verizon) and a far distant third would be either the imagio or the Nexus one.
All sprint seems to be releasing are red-headed step child offerings.
Everytime Sprint anounces a new phone these days I keep thinking of Charlie Brown saying - I got a rock when looking through his Halloween bag.
@mikmik111 Im trying to figure out why is sprint not jumping on these smartphones, I wanted the HD2 also, but nooooooo they didn't put time into getting some exclusives =/
@LowRidinCrew
Enjoy all these hot 3g phones, I will hold out a little bit for an HTC Wi-Max device.
@mikmik111 Im with Sprint at the moment with the Moment!
@JeremyBenthem yep.... another dumbphone from the Dumb Network
@JeremyBenthem I've Had the Rumor since Christmas 2008 and I've only had a couple problems with it. At first, if I whipped the keyboard out too fast or hard, it'd shut off, but I mean, hey any phone could do that. So I'm very careful with that. I've never dropped the phone, and if I ever did that I can't remember, it was nothing major.
I do not recomend this phone, but if you're patient with your phone, it's an okay phone. I suggest you see its details first: http://bit.ly/lg-rumor-specs-best-worst
Did he say emoticon?
this isn't china resistive isn't high tech still we want capacitive even though it is onliny 3 inches
Rumor: The Rumor is actually just a Rumor
This is why I love Sprint.
we've seen that guy before, haven't we
@glenskey We've seen that cat before, haven't we..
@Cheesus Crust
oh, have you now? i don't think so.
*shifty eyes*
It's just a rumor and I don't believe em.
Coming to TOY'R'US stores near you
One thing that LG does very well is their hardware keyboards. I'm curious to try this one out because I'm guessing that it is nice. Otherwise, eh, ya know, it's a'ight.
It's just LG's way of saying they invented a time machine, where they went back to 2002, designed this phone and came back.
Gotta love how they manage to squeeze a 5 row keyboard onto this thing and Nokia can't get their head out of their ass to make a fucking smartphone with more then 3 rows of keys. >_
might get this phone, my samsung instinct is starting to get old =P
@halojames
Was it ever young?
I hope this doesn't require a mandatory data plan like most of Sprint's advanced phones do. Sadly rockin' the Lotus, but for $20 a month. I shouldn't complain. Sprint, I will be a loyal customer until bankruptcy.
@joaquinxf
I got a real answer out of sprint that claims it is because people are too dumb to watch their charges on their internet enabled phones. I almost believe them, people are stupid. I would love that option again too.
LG Rumor? WTF? Do you have a feeling that Sprint is working backward? By the end of this year, Sprint is going to release one of those mobile phone that you have to hook an antenna on your car and the cord to the cigarrette lighter.
Waiting for my Nexus One to arrive! FU Sprint.
nice little device, definitely not something i would buy since its not a smart phone.
i do like its FULL QWERTY keyboard though. BUT why didn't LG up the camera from 2 megapixels to atleast 3.2?! doesn't the 2nd rumor have a 2 megapixel camera as well?
2 mp camera in this day and age? thats kinda pathetic....
I knew it was a Touch Rumor in the pic during Sprint's (LG's? Too many press conferences) press conference. I might get one once my phone is upgradable. Ironic, knowing how much I hated the first Rumor. But the Samsung Rant's firmware is so glitchy, I wish I could get a new phone now.
@Metayoshi I'm hoping that this will work more like the Rumor2 than the 1st Rumor. I went through 4 of the original Rumors before they upgraded me to the Rumor2 and it is 1000x better
look's cool, yeah i could use it as a phone because i like sending txt messages
oml... LG have no designers or what?
So...isn't mashing a Rumour with touch just get you a Xenon? And I love my Xenon....Protip to the haters...the majority of cell phone users don't want or have a need for your blinged out epenis iPhones and Nexi.
It looks like my HTC Mogul from 2007 and my pager from 2002 had an ugly child.
what ever happened to the new LG Android phone that leaked out on a Sprint inventory list a couple weeks ago. I am drooling for Prada 3 but I am starting to wonder if it will ever happen.
Some people at Sprint really needs to be fired....
Do they really pay you guys to keep coming out with this crap?
@(Unverified) i'm a sprint customer and i agree with you. it seems like they wait until a network has already proven that something is great b4 they hop on the bandwagon. yeah you could mention the pre, but there were so many things that went wrong it just made you wonder. and honestly if you weren't gonna announce any smartphones the least you could've did was partner with google and get your own version of nexus one too. its like they're comfotable being in the bottom two of the national carriers. t-mobile coverage sucks but they at least make up for it with their phone line-up. they push their plans which yes is the best, but it seems like they seem to never learn that no matter what you're plans are, if you have the cutting edge device like the iphone or like the droid, then new customers will always come regardless of their plan pricing (verizon) or their coverage performance (at&t).
