Lexi e-book reader probably won't ever be called sexy (hands-on)
We swung by the Audiovox / RCA booth in search of the new Lexi e-reader but sadly were met with a non-working version that was effectively useless. We've heard about the specs but were lacking in the image department, so it was good to at least see what the thing will look like when it hits the increasingly crowded e-reader space. The design is basic, and from the signage in the booth, so is the UI on the handheld itself. There's not much else to say here, and the PR reps weren't the most helpful, but we managed to snag a bunch of shots anyway so check them out below.

The design seems a bit solid, just need to increase the screen-to-"WHITEMATERIAL" ratio.
@Midnitte
Don't be stupid. It's a "book", that you hold. You need to have something to grasp.
I think it's a perfectly good design for its intended purpose. Many of these are too busy anyhow with tiny, oddly-placed buttons. All you really need are page-turning buttons, a menu button and a power button, etc... Keeping it simple is best.
@darex I never did get the keyboard on the Kindle.
sexy
not
or Lexi e-book reader probably won't ever be purchased.
But this just leaves room for the RCA Lexi 2. Then you can say RCA Lexi 2 Sexy.
RCA and Audiovox. Synonymous with Lame.
and just think. you guys had that dog!
@CharlieX RCA has made some really good products in the recent past. For example, the RCA RP5512i iPOD Clock-radio is one of the best ones out there, then or now. The display is huge yet pleasant at night, with its amber color and reasonable brightness at night; the sound is powerful, and the sliding drawer was the first of its kind (copied by many now), and it's got a small footprint, and it looks really cool, and the buttons are arranged logically and well. Many an iPOD clock-radio could learn a thing or two from this early entry into the genre (including iHOME!).
It was not well-known, but it deserved to be.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
@(Unverified) You like? I can make deal?
Yet another e-book reader...yawn. Next!
What, no Audiovox booth tour 2010!!! Almost pooped from laughing from a few years back. Better than laxitives? Um.. Lexi-tives (chuckle).
Of course RCA isn't going to win the "Sexiest Design" category when they design this off of the original eBook reader.

Ok, it's not the Original eBook, but it was RCA's first attempt.
