Jack of trades, master of none: that, friends, is the Sungale Smart Info Engine. There's very little this breadbox-sized hunk of B-grade electronics can't do -- but what it
can do, it does with the elegance and ergonomic grace of a tank. In the off chance you figure out a good place to set it in your home, you'll be able to watch YouTube, awkwardly read e-books, get driving directions (heaven forbid you put this on your car dash), connect memory cards, and even check the time -- but considering that it's too big for an alarm clock and too small for a TV, we wouldn't blame if you if you simply opted to do none of the above.
why isnt this a crapgadget?
They could of made this like...1/8 the size for continence and have it be placed in a permanent location in your home.
Instead this seems more like a crappy chinese product than a awesome tech product.
@Drybones5 The font for the UI just screams "I'm a cheap plastic hunk of Chinese garbage".
WTF is this crap?
Don't you have to pay for booths at CES? Who the hell is funding this thing and have they seen what it looks like?
Wow.
Nevermind Crapgadget. It should be a KIRF. It's doing a horrible job of faking it's usefulness or "technology".
Just... wow.
Damn - that's big. Does it also bake bread?
@edf Looks more like a rotisserie.
Opps! I didn't see the rotating chicken in the back.
"Just set it, and forget it!"
I do love the occasional harsh topic headings. You know that manufacture must groan when they read them.
Engadget, your new galleries are completely broken on Chrome 4, IE 8 (clicking on things doesn't do anything), and Firefox 3.5 (clicking on an images turns all images to black, nothing ever loads after that). How did this pass testing?
@telepheedian weird. I've been on this website on all 3 of those browsers and I don't get those problems... Perhaps you have a firewall that's doing something? I dunno.
@telepheedian running firefox 3.5 and no problems?
blame at&t?
Actually, wtf is with this article? Am I missing something here? Looking at Sungale's website, the *actual* Smart Info Engine product line looks like exactly the trim little full color slate type ebook I've been waiting for someone to make for 15 fucking years. I'm wondering if the picture frame version has enough features to be a kitchen computer.

Gonna assume the breadbox is an interface demo box or a prototype since it's much larger than the tablets and picture frames they're showing on their site.
@dsoltesz
yeah, it sounds like Engadget just passed the booth and didn't actually look into this.
hmmm.. checked the sungale website... if you hang out on the homepage flash animation long enough you'll find that sungale is actually attempting to steal our most treasured times of happiness and make them their own..
"You're Cherished Moments Are Ours"
It's right there!! presented in 'comes-with-windows typewriter font' over crappy stock photo.
Thankfully.. no one will ever buy their enormous counter-top non-portable feature-stripped ipod touch knock-off and their fiendish plot to assimilate all of our happy moments will go un-funded yet again.
we're safe... but for how long?
it looks like the trivia machine you play at the bar because you dont have any friends.
@(Unverified) I... Love you.
From just the name and the picture, I would have thought that it was supposed to be an indash system that controls your car. (like a KIRF knockoff of iDrive)
Grrrrreassy.
It EVEN tells the TIME? Holy sh*t. I want.
I don't think there's even a way to tell the time.. 'Till this baby came out. Genius, man. Pure genius.
I love you Chris... in the awesome way of diction and language. Looks like crap for me!
