Microvision laser projection gun hands-on

We got to test out an enemy-deprived Operation Flashpoint map, and picking up the controller and getting moving was surprisingly easy and intuitive. Picture clarity was decent at the huge sizes we tested things out at, but with some careful arrangement and a smaller projection this might really be good enough to replace your usual gaming monitor -- with the reason you'd want to execute such a swap being the fact that you can point your in-game gun and view in a more natural (and fun) fashion than PC and console control schemes allow. There's also a button locking the picture on a given spot, which allows you to negotiate the full 360 degrees in your game using a less than 180-degree gaming environment. It's hard to convey in words, but you'll see what we're talking about in the video. For our money, this is a terrific party piece, which can be massively enjoyable, but of course you run into the natural roadblock that arms will grow tired by any gaming session stretching beyond 10 or 15 minutes. Still, we'd totally buy one of these to share with our friends, if only it weren't so bleeding expensive. We don't know the actual price (or time of availability, since not even the company knows when these might be coming out), but the standalone projector costs $500 and the gun controller will be somewhere north of that.

sighs... anyone remember the game gun? It's wireless and has a monitor on it, and there is no lag. He talks about the newer version that will use 3 pico projectors. 3!!! WHERE ARE MY 3 PROJECTORS FOR A CRAZY 12 foot screen???? Here's the video where he talks about it

Game Changer! Literally!
Very cool.
How much longer until we get a domed room with 4 or 5 HD projectors and a treadmill (or a race car) in the middle. Then again, add in the Sega 360 system and come up with some Star Wars space game.
Very cool. This needs to be combined with a Doom 3-style game where the entire world is already dark except for the spot revealed by your flashlight =)
I want one. But if I am going to spend that much on a game controller, I would build a 360 degree spherical projection screen that I can get inside. Then have my 5.1 audio set up as well.
All you really need to do is get projector screen and hang it from a circular rod type thing, thus creating a 360* gaming environment.
All you really need is a projector screen hung from a circular rod. Then you have a cylindrical gaming environment, easy enough to do. As for 5.1 sound, you'd need wireless 5.1 headphones, since you'll be moving around. I'm just saying how you could do it and use it for say Counterstrike. If there was a new game that had the software to change the sound output based on where you were facing it'd be fine, but existing games wont allow that without a lot of modding.
Sign me up, I think this is great.
What the hell is up with the camera person?! No way am I sitting through this whole video! Can you please buy a freaking tripod?!
For FPS games there is a project where the gun is wireless and can be used in any game and is valid for use with a standard screen, projector, hmd, etc:

In the videos shows the motion and accuracy in different games.
