I think it's a forgone conclusion that this thing actually exists and that it'll be released this year. Part of me is very excited, but another part of me isn't, because I know that this thing is going to be, even with all its popularity, extremely crippled and containing lots of letdowns. Still, I can't wait to see what Apple brings to the table with this.
"extremely crippled" is extremely unlikely. You're just calling Apple's iTunes ecosystem crippling, which is stupid. Oh yeah the app store is so crippling with over 120,000 apps. I mean it's not like anybody can develop for the app store, right?
Oh wait, yes they can. Hey, how well is that whole "non crippled" thing going for Android and WebOS? Still not even close to being as good as Apple's setup? Yep, being "open" is obviously what makes things "good". Not, you know, making a good product. It's only good if it's "open". Right? Because the success of the iPhone totally supports that theory?
No, I meant extremely crippled. Non-user-replaceable battery, no expansion memory card support (SD, etc), etc. And, no, I'm not calling iTunes crippled, I'm calling the HARDWARE crippled, which is *not* stupid. Some examples: It took two generations for video to get into the iPhone, it took years and years to get SD card slots into Apple's computers, etc.
What I'm saying is that everyone thinks the iSlate or whatever it's gonna be called is going to be the end-all-be-all of tablet computers, and that's just not the case, not in the least bit. It will be successful, and it will be a very good device, but it will not be the slate to end all slates. It will simply be innovative, yet with a lot of technical letdowns that leave techies like us readers here disheartened.
And I won't even remark on your 120k apps/Android/webOS comments, because (1) you're a troll, which means that (2) I don't want to feed you, and (3) I don't really feel like debating with an ignorant person who is so damn defensive about a PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY.
@Padilla7921 Worryingly, this may come as a surprise to you, but 99% of phone and laptop users don't own a second battery and they don't change or upgrade memory cards in their phones either (non-techies stick the card that came with the phone in there and never use it and techies buy the biggest card the phone will support as soon as they get it).
If I ever buy a tablet PC, I'm pretty sure I want one made by Apple, not Victorinox...
I don't think you understand what "crippled" means. Yes the iPhone battery is not replaceable. But guess what? It has better life than the replaceable batteries in other phones. Would you rather your phone go a full day on a charge, or would you rather it didn't but be able to replace it halfway though?
Apple haters are the only people I know who can take something like "better battery life" and turn it into "crippled".
Using SD card slots as an excuse to call Macbooks crippled is one of the dumbest things I've heard here in a long time. I mean for fuck's sake, it's not like Macbooks have USB or anything, right? And Wifi, and Bluetooth, and Firewire? But the lack of an SD card slot makes it crippled somehow? Really? Jesus, if SD cards were that important, every machine on the planet would have an SD slot.
Since you seem to know so much about Apple's tablet, what technical letdowns are you referring to? You appear to know more about it than the rest of us, so why don't you share? I mean if you're so sure about it, it shouldn't be hard to list off a few things.
And you're calling me a troll? Really? Were you aware that my only post to you has been a response to something YOU said? Do you just not know what trolling is? And you said you didn't want to respond, but you DID respond, which is hilarious, and calling me ignorant while telling us how much the tablet is going to suck without knowing anything about it is pretty awesome.
Seriously, look in a mirror some time. Pot, kettle, black. Stones and glass houses. Think about it.

@Padilla7921 would you say that the excited part of you is below your waist? "YES"
@IceTheGreat
