Korean Air subsidiary renting out PSP Go consoles for in-flight gaming
Korean Air subsidiary Jin Air has a new trick up its sleeve for entertaining passengers going to and fro South Korea. The airline is now offering a 16GB PSP Go to rent for in-flight gaming. No clue what games are on the device, but it's probably the best 4,000 won (about $3.50) you can spend -- assuming, that is, there's more than a sudoku app.

Or you can hack it in-flight and play your own games.
So those are the people who bought a PSP Go...
@newreformation or a good old hacked 2000 is better, since you can emulate multiple gaming consoles on it and feel very nostalgic.
iDTGV (one of the high speed trains) in France rents out PSPs, games and headpones as well.
@jdripper
no one cares about France, have you seen the first 5 minutes of team America?
this is cool they can also make a server on the plane and stream movies.
This is actually pretty sick, I wich US airlines can do something like this.
@Modacke
I guess they spend all their money on picking out the non-white skin with those fancy machine of theirs.
I think its cool idea.
I flew Korean air coach last year , and it was awesome. they are a 4 star airline at 3 star prices.
It doesn't surprise me that the awesomeness passes on to their subsidiaries.
@(Unverified)
"3 star prices"?
you get comparable service levels w/ Emirates & Singapore Airlines at lower prices - Korean Air is definitely NOT among the cheap airlines ;)
@RCAQ $1000 from DC to Shanghai. It probably depends on when you book and the locations you're going to/from but i think i got a good deal.
@krymson
I fly Easyjet.
1 star airline at 0.5 star prices (as long as you only want to take hand luggage).
I had a look at this, its actually not too bad. I would pick it over the iPhone/Nexus/Pre in the gaming sense, I don't like running down the battery on the one thing that keeps me connected to the world, a phone. Good move on them, I'd hire one for the journey!
I'll have the big one please.
On airlines here in the states $3.50 barely gets you a small bag of M&Ms,..I'd totally rent this thing.
@ProcrastinationXtravaganza
Hey, I love my M&M's!
@ProcrastinationXtravaganza Last time I flew to Hawaii, $3.50 wouldn't even get you headphones for the movie.
@BigD145
Yah Hawaiian Airlines rents a digiplayer for $20 or $5 for headphones. Meh! Etymotics and iPod nano for me when I Visit LA.
I find it a great idea and other airlines should start similar offerings. The price is also very nice. That is the way to go!
Imagine playing multiplayer with everyone in the flight....
Could i rent the girl instead?
@rlawlals 1) you're desperate. 2) the word you're looking for is "prostitute"
@rlawlals
No. They do not have private rooms on commercial airplanes yet.
Hey, Sudoku is TOTALLY worth $3.50, OK?
This is like back in the 90s, Japan Air Lines had a handheld version of the Genesis available for rental on flights.
@KeegdnaB
Ah, Sega Nomad, oh, how I want thee... :P
But, I thought that using a personal electronic device would cause the plane to dive straight into the ground like a fucking yard-dart. Hmmmm, I guess paying a rental fee somehow prevents the PSP from emitting subspace interferionatons at a quantum level. Unlike my iPod...which is apparently more dangerous than a surface-to-air missile.
I remember in 1995 I flew to India via Kuwait Airways
In each seat they had the totally awesome headrest based entertainment centers. What was even better was in each one they had a built in SNES!
I was what? 10 at the time? my parents said they didn't hear a peep out of me the entire journey. seriously the greatest flight I ever took. The SNES alone beat out the first class flight I took on emirates, which was pretty spectacular, you get your own "room" in a sense, it had a bed/chair and a table and chairs for families to eat dinner together
I hope they also have translated Korean flicks uploaded... And oh, adult entertainment are welcome too.
You know if any of the north american companies had thought of this they would be charging 25 bucks for the rental
@KrazyCalvin
25 bucks? Are you krazy?
More like 50 bucks.
Only devices that send and recieve a signal are not supposed to be used. Personal electronic devices are supposed to be stowed at take off and landing, but can be used while cruising.
I'd pay an gladly pay an extra 100.00 if they guarantee Osama's friend won't be on the flight.
If you fly Finnair transcontinental you can borrow a PSP for free..
