DIY Lego router the perfect compliment to your Bristle Blocks firewall
Is there anything you can't do with Lego brand toy building bricks? Probably -- but we're not here to dwell on the negative. In this space, we've seen everything from a USB charger to a 3D scanner built with the things, but if you still haven't had your fix, Luke Anderson (the Lego computer guy) has full on, step-by-step instructions for building an enclosure for your Linksys WRT54GL router. It's stackable, all the buttons, LEDs, and ports are accounted for, and your young child can break a small piece off and choke on it. In other words, it combines the functionality of a router with the charm of your favorite toy! Ready to dive in? We thought so... hit the source link to get started.

First.
And I want one
@Gamecheater
I want one... and you suck.
@Engadget
...a little slow...saw this on hackaday last week. Great topic none-the-less...the kid also made a lego pc tower http://tfvlrue.wordpress.com/2008/06/25/lego-computer/
...I dont suppose your planning on covering this story next http://hackaday.com/2010/01/14/start-the-car-with-a-wave-of-your-hand/#more-20759
I take it "bristle blocks" = stickle bricks?
Does this have anything to do with Apple? No? Then it isn't even worth posting for the less than 50 comments it will get.
@FauxNews
Because this is cooler than anything apple could ever dream of making.
I have a Netgear rangemax dual band router. It is way to sexy to take out of the case and consider turning it into anything else.
@zioncat Me too, just got it, and hope it lasts longer than the two Linksys that went before it. got no more than 13 months out of both of them.
"Lego brand toy building bricks"?!
AKA Legos, but hey, that's just me.
@patsy
Or just plain 'Lego'. But you are right - anyone that comes on this site will know what Lego is, no need for explanation.
More people in the world know what Lego is that what a router is.
Is there a kit for this? I don't have legos anymore.
If I build a Frisbee out of old AOL Compact Discs, will you post my results?
I'm also planning to incorporate how many "Free Hours" come with each disc into the design - the ones with higher hours are obviously worth so much more!
That should be "the perfect complement," not compliment.
:D
James may built an entire house and all the furniture from lego.

@Echuu
From the series "Toy Stories" ... it's a must-watch (6 episodes)...
It's LEGO not Legos, Lego is already plural
@Extinction
Who cares? Everytime "legos" are on the site someone like you bitches saying OMG you fail it's just Lego. Just get over it, everyone says legos when they're talking about them in plural.
Wouldnt it be cheaper or same price to just buy one?
Website showing the construction.

@fatslug
Here's a fun thing I like to do and you might too!
Sometimes, I read an article, read some comments, and then I don't troll with dozens upon dozens of flame war, troll-tastic comments :D
(lol ok... I did think that "crapple" was funny the first 5 or 6 times, but c'mon: http://www.engadget.com/profile/3397569/ )
This is sweeeeeet
Cool, but I wouldn't put so much time in it to use just black legos. Judging by the picture I probably never would have guessed that it was actually made with legos... using more colors would have made it better I think.
The LEGO replicators have entered a new phase of their plan to take over the world. Now they can communicate with each other and they will be looking for more technology to assimilate. Beware!
The legos probably cost more than the router! WRT-54GL is the best ever !
