We've seen
KIST's Marhu robot tooling around here before, but now they're showing off the latest models, the Mahru-Z (with some help from Mahru-M), in some super useful scenarios. Mahru-Z and M have been successfully demonstrating their service abilities by carrying cups of tea, and retrieving toast from toasters and delivering it as well. The Z-version bot is a bit shorter than previous iterations, and also sports different, more dextrous arms. He stands about 4 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 122 pounds. Both bots are networked and use 3D object recognition in their task completion. Overall, the improvements to the
Mahru bots are iterative, but it sure is great to hear that one day we'll have someone to bring our breakfast to us in bed. Video is after the break.
Wow! Cool and totally useless!
By the time it fetches your food it is going to be cold.
Nonetheless, go skynet, flip the switch.
@Oler When I saw that thing start to walk I laughed pretty hard and said "that's so stupid" out loud. Couldn't help it. The thing walks ridiculously/hilariously slowly.
All of those robots coming out of Japan are just creeepy
@werty1432k :s Kinda creepy yes.... Imagine when this thing is well developed how many teens are going to lose their jobs at McDo and BK... :S SO this is the future... they were not kidding at the movies.
@werty1432k
Except this is in South Korea.
That's alot of tech just to fetch a slice of toast.
I like toast, so I want one.
Isn't that what a wife is for?
@SolidSnake Hmm, no. And that proves you don't have one. Try asking a modern woman to make you toast.
@TikiTeko
Well excuse me, I was just trying to make a joke..... No harm intended.
@SolidSnake
ummmmm, i believe that was a joke dude
but if i makes you feel better, my wife makes me toast (sometimes)
Why do robots need to have two feet again? wouldn't it be better to fit them with 4-8 like an insect or just give them wheels?
@NathanHeil They want the robots to be human-like. I haven't seen any humans with wheels :p
@werty1432k and don't way people in wheel chairs! lol
@NathanHeil yeah, they need to be able to blend with society... Terminator Style baby
@NathanHeil
because a robot with more than 2 legs is crazy scary
Indeed.
A high speed toast arachnid 'droid, skuttling across the walls carrying your toast from kitchen to bedroom would be much more fun.
Meet George Jetson.
His Boy Elroy.
Daughter Judy.
Jane his wife.
That is what come to my mind !
When are they going to get with the program and make robots like the Awesomo?
that was the single most boring video i have ever seen in my life.
@BrianH I guess it's a good thing I shortened the video. It was originally 6 minutes long!
@fatslug
Looks like they could be modified into the best Rock'em Sock'em Robots Game ever!!!
well, at least they are not hitting bottom of the Uncanny Valley.
Aww, Laura, I'll bring you breakfast in bed. :-(
They better wash their damn dirty robot hands before handling my food.
The battle for who can built to most freaky robot between Japan and Korea has picked up the pace ....
"OMG it's a KIRF ASIMO"
Robots are like a volume dial , when people accept robots they will turn the speed up, right now people are scared of the future robotics so they make them seem comical , but everything we see is irrelevant obsolete tec , if a human robot was unveiled tomorrow the world would lose its mind , humans are not ready yet for the reality of modern robotics , and as a side note i think robots first rule is they should never be allowed to look a human in the eyes , nor should they be allowed in the military .
@DanaDurnford - BS, every boy in Japan would give his left nut for a femmebot... and proceed to use the remaining nut on said bot.
