As totally awesome and exciting as the
Nexus One might be, with any new device there are bound to be some growing pains -- f'rinstance, you might have heard about issues with the phone's 3G connectivity. Well, Google has too (hell, our buddy Erick Tseng even addressed it on
The Engadget Show yesterday) and while the cause is less than clear, the company assures us it's working feverishly to get to the bottom of it. Unfortunately, that isn't the only problem newly minted Nexus One owners are noticing. According to a lively discussion on Google's Android forum, some folks are experiencing extreme
touchscreen calibration issues after cold booting the phone -- problems that resolve themselves (temporarily) after putting the thing to sleep and then turning it back on. That said, the good folks at Google assure us they're on the case. If it turns out that it's a hardware problem, it'll be covered under your warranty. Software? They'll issue a patch for it. If your phone's having problems and you feel like joining the conversation, hit that source link.
@mamaliga you're a clown.
Where's Boner?
@staffy
+1 to you.
I told you to get N900 but NOOOO!!

Steve jobs so happy? i would too.
Engadget keep listing negative Nexus one news and never post anything positive about it
I guess M$ was right all along when it said directly selling mobile hardware to consumers is a bad idea ..... :-)
Welcome aboard Mr.-I-Want-To-Put-My-Nose-Everywhere
An n900 review against this, the iPhone and Droid would be welcome. :-) Chris...N900 thoughts and opinions?
Should Android 2.2 be named the Ben Seaver?
@To Hell More like the cleaveland steamer.
Had these complaints been about an apple device, those threads would have been locked by now and Apple still wouldn't have acknowledged the issue.
@l3admonky See: iMac
I don't get the picture. Can someone explain me the relationship it has with the issue, please? Thanks in advance.
@TikiTeko
It's the cast of Growing Pains. They mention in the post that the Nexus One may be having some "Growing Pains".
@TikiTeko
Get this kid out of here, clearly not old enough to be reading the news.
@7egend
Or not american?
@oldpass56
Not American? No such thing. Why, that's just unconstitutional.
@MacUserChi Thanks ! Very kind for the response.
@Steve P Jobs
Wow Joseph, you found a strong contender for Word of the Year "FRINSTANCE". Go submit it to urbundictionary.com.
shoula gotten a palm pre...
@iamisaactorres the palm pre has a lot of issues too
Welp, mine is problem free, so I guess I can breathe easy for a while.
Sucks if you've unlocked your bootloader...
@GoogleCEO BEST. AVATAR. EVER.
Oh yeah, sucks to hear that about the Nexus....
i have the original screen accuracy/cal issue... i wouldn't say extreme.. but yes, a quick hit of the sleep button is required... annoying but not "rip my hair out" annoying...
now battery life... that's another story.... it's quite pitiful on mine... i can barely get 10hrs out of it without looking for a charger... and usage is nothing crazy... 30min-1hr of voice call... maybe 1hr or 2 of Pandora... a few short web visits... some email... some sms... brightness turned way down... GPS off... WiFI off.... no notifications set to lower than 1 or 2hrs... no background apps like IM running...
@micanuck
My battery life is worse. I dont have any apps / widgets running in the background.
Yet the phone drops from 100% to 88% in 45 min.
Without zero voice usage and maybe 1 hours of browsing on wifi it is down to 25% by 4 pm
@sycamore714
Do you have your GPS antenna turned on? Yesterday I was able to talk for over 3 hours and the battery was at about 45% after my call (GPS is turned OFF and WiFi turned ON).
@Goldorak
Tried both ways , it degrades further with GPS turned on.
If your 100% sure your in a T-Mobile 3G coverage area you can dial *#*#4636#*#* on the phone and set the network dropdown to "WCDMA" only and it will stay connected to 3g as long as you remain in the 3g coverage area.
LMAO...the iphone "killer" fails again
@TheRogueFFAngel
As if the iphone had no failures. Can it cut and paste yet, that drug on so long I quit following. Can the iphone edge SMS yet, like every dumbphone made 5 years before it?
@wraith404
Well done. Well done on copying arguments that were valid 2 years ago. You must be new here.
@TheRogueFFAngel Obvious troll is obvious
not unless you already UNLOCKED the bootloaders WUH OH!
Oh, God. Eighties fashion, hair were hideous. Must... suppress... the memories!
Not having any problems. Battery Life is great too, compared to G1 or N900.
Growing Pains... what a great show.
The nexus one is awesome but it FAILS HARD!!!
going back to my droid and my awesome verizon network following me anywhere I go.
@FrankJL Quite frankly, this phone isn't really that impressive. It's basically a Droid without a physical keyboard and a slight bump of its version of Android.
@dcoaster and twice as much RAM. As far as any upcoming updates of Android OS go, the nexus one is best suited for them. Plus, it has 3D capabilities.
@Steve P Jobs Well this is a problem you won't ever have. I mean... a user forum.
@doutorpiranha selfcorrection http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa?categoryID=1
no idea on the moderation though ;)
Has Engadget ever posted about the wifi bug that still plagues iPhones and has generated threads over 200 pages long on the Apple forums?
But anyway, I thought since the Diamond/Touch Pro HTC had quality products. The Nexus One was obviously rushed.
@where u at Why would they want to beat a dead horse like that?
And btw, I've had 5 iPhones since June 2008 and wifi is something I've never had an issue with.
@where u at
what wifi bug? I dont have any wifi issues on my 3gs

@where u at : bugs? What bugs? iPhone ain't got no bugs! Blasphemer!
@jellotime91 Why have you gone through 5 iPhones in less then 2 years?
@sethmo
LOL
+1 to you!
I want to know too. :)
@where u at
Since obviously nobody knows what I'm talking about.
