BumpTop hits the Mac, covers your OS X desktop with piles just like your real desktop (video)
PC users have been making a 3D mess of their virtual Windows 7 desktops with BumpTop now for nearly a year, and have been doing it two-fingered since October saw the 1.2 multitouch release. Now you Apple fans can get a feel too, with BumpTop Mac newly available. There's a free version for you to try, or a $29 Pro edition that adds support for multitouch trackpads, enabling you to quickly form piles of docs and filter through them. Yes, piles of documents, much like that leaning tower of expense reports your co-workers have been giving a wide berth whenever they walk by. After the break you'll find a video of it all in action, and you can get your free trial at the read link -- assuming you're running OS 10.5 or higher.

Do i want to go all that complicated? Nope no. But might want to use it just for a simple purpose like keeping a very important document or a note pinned to the wall.
@Edobe agreed, neat but utterly unnecessary
God, you are all such haters! This app provides some nice new features that aren't available in OS X. If these were native features that were part of the OS, you'd be foaming at the mouths. Personally, I think it's one of my new favorite apps right behind Quicksilver...
@Wysinger my favorite app is the flashlight app for iPhone.
No wait! Its the Mirror app. Remember that one? For a buckyou can turn your screen black and your iPhone becomes a reflective piece of glass. Almost like turning off your iPhone but without turning off your iPhone! Genius!
We invented the computer to AVOID piles of documents, they just reintroduced it...
Wow, that is possibly the worst idea in "organizing" your files I have ever seen. Piles are an arbitrary and incoherent collections of unidentifiable clutter. WTF?
I would recommend the FLIPER system. "File Line Perspective Enhanced Reality". It all the rage! It lines up all your files into a single stack and all you have to do is start at the top and "FLIP" your way to the file you need. It work as well for two files as it does or thousands!
Try it today!
I tried installing this. It killed spring loaded icons for anything on the desktop. Hitting space when you have a file selected while hovering over a folder simply quicklooks the file you have selected instead of opening the folder like it normally does.
Considering the fact that I only use my desktop as temporary storage place and then add files into their proper folders when I'm done with them using a spring loaded hard drive icon on my desktop. The loss of this functionality is a total deal breaker for me.
