Yea, you read that right -- fifty apps loaded side by side by freaking side on the
Pre Plus, and the thing just kept on ticking. The chaps over at
Pre Central decided to test out specifically how much of an improvement the
doubling of RAM and storage in the new handset delivered, and they were not disappointed. Opening up the same apps on both phones, they found the
original Sprint Pre (sporting a mere 256MB of RAM) ran out of puff at the 13 app mark, whereas the Pre Plus soldiered on until a nice round fifty was reached. Go past the break to see the video evidence for yourself -- long live multitasking!
I did about 15 on my Sprint Pre. I got bored after opening 15 cards, so I'm not too sure how many I could have opened without getting the error. Swiping between different cards was a breeze, but actually doing anything in an app was relatively laggy.
@brown like dookie if you have a Mac, it's easy to sync your desktop with Google and then use Google's cloud on your Pre or Android. If you use Spanning Sync it works better, and although it's subscriptionware, it's affordable with $5 off/$5 to you links like those in the comments section here http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24117/spanning-sync (Note I didn't post a referal link, as that'd be tacky.)
Thats pretty ridiculous but nice. pat on the back palm but was there no upgrade on the processor. How!! can we live without the moving interactive wallpapers!!?!? i wan it now!
Um, hello PALM!
It's called 800x480. Android has it. iPhone developers got the secret SDK for it. You, Palm, are left behind. Cya!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please go out of business quietly.
@blinky - My Palm Pre phone has the same screen resolution as the iPhone, but its graphics is sharper because the screen is slightly smaller. The reason some phones have 800x480 is because their screen is much larger. But when you look at the graphics on those screens, they are no sharper than the Palm Pre. But ha, I am buying a phone and not a briefcase. The Palm Pre can easily fit in your pocket or on your belt. Who want's a big, bulky phone?
Boy, you look concerned that the Palm Pre is doing things that the iPhone cannot do. Don't look at the demos then if you cannot take it.
@Thinker
So now a smaller screen is better than a larger scree, lol. Damn some of you.
That's amazing.
Wow. Palm pre is really so amazing now witht he extra bit of guts.
WebOS is the best phone OS out there. This reallt shows the good information and management of the OS. Beats the heck out of iPhone.
I think iPhone is slowly dying as their gimmick runs thin compared to powerhouses like the Palm pre and Android Phones.
Gotta Love WebOS.
@Thor e
Slowly dying, yeah that's why iphone sales are actually improving. Yeah it sure is dying, how many Palm Pres have been sold. Meanwhile Apple is looking at close to 10 million iphones for this past quarter.
@Mark Biatch Anderson
Good job Captain Lemming. What I'm trying to say is that people are starting to understand the iPhone is inferior to most other smart phones out there. But yes, people still buy them for some weird reason.
You smell wonderful by the way.
@Thor e
Who is people, sure doesn't show seeing as how the iphone has the highest consumer satisfaction ratings. Yeah I'm sure a bunch of irrelevant dudes complaining matters in the grand scheme of thing.
@Mark Biatch Anderson
I had iphony 3GS. Could not hold a call annoying my customers friends and family, and bluetooth didn't work at all. Glass on the front broke for no reason, had to beg for apple to help and nothing. Local carier pulled strings. Charing huge money for add ons to bring basic functionality in other phones an 99% of apps being useless drivel.
I'm not the ony one. Iphone is a piece of crap gimmick. Honestly, who uses glass in their phone. Pre has turned out to be 100 times the device iphone is
and its only getting better. Can't imagine using anything but webos.
That's amazing.
Looks like a decent upgrade. Obviously I'm not switching carriers, though.
Too bad it stopped at 50, and not 52... then Palm could of said "When you use a Pre, you're playing with a full deck."
i might just to verizon for this!!!
This next Iphone better have something up its sleeve.
Wow, I'm impressed. I've never considered a Pre, but now I will
