Sony Ericsson Vivaz shows up in multicolored Dutch hands-on (Update: video!)
The former Kurara caterpillar has now sprouted into a Vivaz butterfly, and what do you know, all its lustrous color options have already been handled and explored by Dutch site All About Phones. We're told that early leaks and spy shots did a disservice to the handsome styling of the handset, which borrows some design cues from the Xperia X10. It's smaller than you might think, apparently, and a delight to handle, though the back has an unfortunate taste for fingerprints. The Symbian S60 5th onboard is said to be "remarkably fast," and an improvement over the implementation on the Satio. We couldn't resist snatching one more photo with all four hues on display, which can be found after the break, but you'll have to read that source link for the full dish and photoshoot.
Update: Hey, SE has been kind enough to supply us with a developer preview video, which you'll find right after the break, thanks XRX.

wtf, thats ugly.
@rhezaganteng
I think it looks rather nice, black one especially.
@rhezaganteng
If it's typical SE, it'll look awesome, but have terrible software hidden in parts they don't show you.
SE, when you release this you better make it available for the Satio. It's STILL missing a Twitter application, even though it's on the goddamn box.
@Suomaa - I think it looks nice, but I think this will be the last Symbian phone from SE for quite some time. I think they are focused on doing some great things with Android, and ChromeOS, etc.
I am digging that crazy camera!
@Haha the features of Sony Ericsson Kurara a.k.a SE Vivaz apparently include a 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen display and an 8.1MP camera (which, judging by the HD seen on the phone’s back, should be able to record video in HD) and be be announced in the first half of 2010. Welcome aboard for the name! Details: http://bit.ly/sony-ericsson-kurara-details
@Suomaa
Actually I can't really tell. The boke is so bad in the photo it might as well be taken with a blurry cam. lern 2 take fotos plzz
WoW just with this had a Xenon flash. Lets hope flick scrolling is enabled on all menus not just the Sony Ericsson add ons.
I would luv to go back to Symbian but S60v5 is just not up to scratch, it was rushed out, I will be waiting to see what Symbian Foundation is like before I decide, until then I will be getting the Android XT720 with Xenon flash, unless Nokia/sony ericsson release a new mobile with new version of OS & xenon flash.
@Newwales
Nokia is cooking a 12Mpx 720p with xenon this year :)
@Newwales If nokie is doing a 720p with xenon flash I will wait for that, unless this year means 4th quarter, they NEED to release by end of 2nd quarter or begingin of 3rd quarter, other wize they will be way behind all other manufacturers.
@Newwales Flash sucks, in my opinion. The light is very harsh. I would only use a camera phone in an emergency : )
@Newwales, I currently have a Samsung I8000 (my main phone) & still have my Nokia N82 with Xenon flash, & it is fantastic at taking indoor & night photos, it woors just as well as my cheep 5 megapixe digital camera.
When every I take my N82 out I spend most of the night blootoothing my photos to everyone else because it is far superior to ther led flash phones.
Xenon flash rules (u just need a big battery)
@revoltracers
yup, better not have flash in an emergency.
@Newwales
I second that.
I'm really wondering why they are not using Symbian^2 build. That hardware would be totally Symbian^4 capable, though I'm not sure if it requires multi touch.
colorful, dutch, I wonder if you get a free blunt when you buy one of these in the NL? I agree you would have to be intoxicated on something to find this design appealing!

either the user sucks at gaming or the game itself sucks.
"Vivaz" is a portuguese/spanish adjective that means "vivacious" or "full of life.
Don't think these guys are Dutch. They sond more like they come from Sweden or something. And no you probably wont get a free blunt with this phone. Why does everyone think the Dutch are just a bunch of pot smoking idiots?
@ThePretender
Where did you read the guys in the video's are Dutch? Have you been smoking the Mary Jane again?
@ThePretender
Actually everybody thinks the Dutch are a bunch of pot smoking smart people.
@ThePretender They do sound Scandinavian. And thanks for noting that we're not all pot smoking idiots.
@ThePretender
The title refers to the news source which is allaboutphones.nl. (as you can see from the source link at the bottom of the article), not the video which is added later.
@Flobin
"Daniel Rosendahl and Albin Olofsson from Developer World"
Yep olofsson is definitely not dutch, but the article says
"Update: Hey, SE has been kind enough to supply us with a developer preview video:"
So the video is separate from the link, the vid comes for sony ericsson, the site linked is dutch.
Incidentally, did you see the new (to me) video options button on that youtube? you can select which (HD) res you want, about time eh, but nice nonetheless.
why the fck is the camera on the middle of the back, when u take photo u see ur fingerz, wooo
@dyyz I'm pretty sure they intended on you flipping the phone around and holding it like an actual point-n-shoot, with the trigger being in the corner like a real camera. With 8MP in the sensor, I'm sure people looking to replace their current point-n-shoot would try to line up the shot a little better than catching upskirts on the run like I'm sure you're used to doing.
@disciple83
Only very weird people (japanese?) would use a phone as a p&s replacement IMHO.
@Wwhat Congrat's, you're a certified idiot and a racist. Enjoy your downranking.
@Wwhat
Well i use my phone as a p&s replacement, i don't know why i should buy a camera if my phone is good enough.
Anyone hear the camera guy saying
"you suck, basically" while the dude is playing the brickbreaker game?
Is that just me?
Who else expects the usual SE take on this device?
Nice specs on initial announcment, fairly favourable reviews, delayed release, then late release, finally makes it out to market but is superceeded by similar specced devices for far less money that were available 3-6 months prior.....
Pull finger SE, you're too slow and too expensive. If you're going to announce a device, announce it 4 weeks prior to release so that A. it looks like you're hitting the market with a current device, and B. don't get pantsed by a competitor who can beat you with a cheap handset!
