Viewsonic joins the Android Tablet fraternity with the VTablet 101
In a move that can only be described as caving in to peer pressure, Viewsonic has become the latest to prop up an Android-powered and keyboard-free device that probably won't revolutionize the way you idly surf the web from your couch. Called the VTablet 101 it rocks a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor and NVIDIA Tegra graphics powering an 8.9-inch, 1024 x 800 touchscreen display. There's 4GB of storage, WiFi, and Bluetooth, all in a reasonably attractive 3,000 Yuan ($440) price. Availability? Whenever hazing is over -- assuming it survives.

hah fiiiiiiiiiiiirst!
@dedparrot I think everything looks pretty mediocre nowadays since everyone is looking forward to to tablet.
I'm looking forward to it even though I won't even buy it.
you sure that's 1024x800 not 1024x600? the aspect ratio doesnt look quite right
I am a lawyer technogeek who has been using tablets since they first came out, They are extremely useful for taking notes during meetings, depositions and court and later finding the notes although I rarely transcribe the notes. I also once had a 10 inch Acer tablet that I found to be the perfect size and compromise between size, weight and usability allowing me to easily carry the notebook around with me all the time for notes. The addition of an Android type device that allows very quick boot time to write quick notes and around 8.9 inches and which could serve as an ebook and pdf reader would be an extremely useful device.
@plainview
Indeed. Add in that fancy PixilQi screen and you've got a very handy little device there.
@plainview
Yup can be useful to take notes during meetings and workshops.
Can one of these companies figure out that they should remove the phone application from the home screen for these tablet demos.
Does it also use an antiquated version like the one built by Archos?
Another example of a "TABSLATE"..Watch and See..This is the newest category of handheld computers becoming the trend setters and info
handlers for all of us. a handheld computer devise bigger that an IPHONE and smaller than a LAPTOP is a "TABSLATE" Welcome to the NEW WORLD of
Home Computing....
Cortex A9 + Tegra = SPEED DEMON
@Cesar Cardoso tegra2 + android = speed demon + HD multitasking
Who on earth uses these?
I'm sorry but that stupidly long search widget is a deal breaker for me NEXT!
@fourthletter you can easily easily change that bro. lets say it together. "open source" are you noob?
4GB of memory? They're joking! Did they mention some SDHD slot for adding more memory? It wouldn't hold more than a couple of movies if that's what it's intended to be used for.
This thing will not disappear. It looks like one of the best tablets so far. And it is certainly not lost in the hype, because there aren't any yet. If you want a smooth HD tegra 2 tablet, there are NO options right now. Who ever releases first FTW.
i was excited until i saw it was Viewsonic. It will be a speed demon for sure... but one that falls apart just as fast.
