HTC HD2 extended battery with kickstand up for pre-order in the UK
British electronics e-tailer Clove has started listing a new £53 ($86) HD2 accessory that should be of interest to everyone who owns or plans on owning the device. We always thought that generous 4.3-inch screen could do with some backside support, and indeed the new kickstand-equipped extended battery will provide just that. You'll also get a nice energy bump, as the new accessory is set to double the 1,230mAh capacity of the default juice pack. Deliveries are expected by Clove in February, meaning it shouldn't be too long before this official appendage makes its global debut -- let's just hope other nations don't have to suffer as much wallet damage as the UK.

Finally!!
@chen
Indeed! That sounds brilliant!
I don't know if I really need a kickstand in my phone but awesome none the less!
God I wish we had this in the U.S.! Easily the best beast on the market, but I think they wanted to iron all the bugs out before they gave it to such finicky gadgeteers. Plus it's a sure bet to be released with 6.5.3 (6.6) with the official version having stripped any and all old stylus type screens throughout the OS. Also, they will have completely replaced the camera hardware and hopefully upgrade it to 5MPS and 720p video shooting.
@AABacon
It's coming to T-Mobile in the first part of the year if I'm not mistaken.
We have to wait if all holds true by clove. The image is photoshopped and Clove has also brought out the HTC HD2's carkit, which looks nothing like and does not promise as the first pictures had shown these last few months. I would advice not to get too enthusiastic.
@Wevenhuis
I think the new pictures of cu s400 (car kit) at clove are the pictures of the final product. as i can see, there should be two models of the car kit. one with the extra battery cover, and the other, the one that u see at clove. maybe it is because what people choose to buy. also on expansys (another official htc partner) the image has been updated, but there is no info about the extended battery. Check it out: http://www.expansys.it/zoompic.aspx?type=item&i=188277
@Ermal Turkeshi
Yes I have seen this picture before via XDA. If the link to the picture you gave is the final product many HD2 owners will be disappointed. I hope you are right and that there are two models. This carkit will be less esthetic an less functional. Because there is only a microusb connection at the bottom of the carkit, the headphone jack will be blocked, so you cannot plug your phone to your stereo. I think I will stick to my gooseneck carholder for a little while longer.
this phone looks awesome, but this makes me suspect... how long is the current battery?
@pechorin
I've actually been really surprised with the battery in my HD2. I expected to have to charge it every night but even using the GPS, web browsing and a chat now and then it's good for a couple of days. If I just use it for a few calls a day it comfortably lasts 3 days.
@Jimbob
3 days with light usage? That's very impressive for a modern, high end smartphone
@Jimbob yeah, that's impressive used to the current other high end phones.
i think it's not necessary an extended battery, but it is always good to have the choice
@Jimbob I haven't seen anybody get close to 3 days of usage with the HD2 on a single charge, regardless of what ROM or power saving settings they use. Mine is on a custom ROM and barely lasts a day.
@SarnGate
You obviously talk too much (-; I've still got the original 1.4 ROM and there has been a few days where I've forgotten to charge it after 2 days and woken up to still find it running.
@SarnGate With the 1.48 stock rom, mine lasts for 2-3 days with wifi always on.
@pechorin
you guys are full of crap. I use my phone to make maybe 2-3 calls a day and surf for at most 1 hour and watch 1 hour of video and 1 hour of music plus maybe 20 or so text messages. My battery goes down to 20% or so at the end of the day. I dont even have 3G or Wifi enable. Just edge data and phone. You guys must never use your phone and just leave it at sleep all day.
@Yaoooo84
WTF? You use it for 1 HOUR of video 1 HOUR of browsing and 1 HOUR of music, phone calls and 20txt messages and it goes down 20% and you think thats SHIT! Your an idiot!
@Yaoooo84
Dude, you qualify for heavy usage.
@Jimbob That is shit. A phone that barely lasts a day when you use it AS ADVERTISED, is a joke.
I should be able to go out for the night without worrying that my phone's battery is going to die.
@SarnGate
Try that kind of usage on an iphone, nexus one, pre, or anything else and see if you don't come back with similar results. (you will).
@SarnGate
And you can. With average usage, virtually every smartphone will last a day. Heck, I'm running a buggy version of Android on my Fuze that has a battery in need of replacement and it will last me 8 hours with light usage, and 4-5 with heavy use. That's me pulling Pandora for about 30 minutes, sending and receiving 50-60 text messages, and (obviously) receiving push email. In WinMo, my phone will last about another 2 hours. That's all with 3G enabled. Now the HD2 has a far larger screen, but I'm sure after the phone is finished "settling" its battery life would be about the same. Do I wish battery life was better? Yeah, who wouldn't, but I'm 100% fine with it where it is. It isn't like it's dying on me in the middle of the day.
These people that constantly complain of battery life with smart phones need to go back to dumb phones. A day of average use is expected. Anything more is lagniappe.
@Yaoooo84
I agree, i dont have HD2 but i have Xperia x1 and if i
-Make calls
-SMS
-some mp3s like an hr
itl last about 3 days.
If i use the smart functions a lot, it wont go over 2 days.
Who ever says they get such good battery life on the HD2 is full of shit. Every single function of the HD2 uses more battery then on the Xperia X1, and also has a smaller battery.
Thus: its not possible to have such long battery life on HD2
Now that just SCREAMS sexy!
I own one of these babies :D i meant the HD2
I think the battery life is good and size isn't an issue... but I am a big person 1.95m tall.
Running a custom ROM this thing is smooth, fast and stable, sure beats the iphone 3gs my friend has.
We need one of these guys for the Nexus One.
Now if only it came with a keyboard.
i do not much care how long the regular battery lasts. More battery life is better. Simple as that. When the HD2 has its US release in march i will get the extended battery if exists here in the US.
Just asking, but can't the manufacture just increase the battery size before releasing the device?
@Sgt Cell
and everyone would say "WTF, what is that back cover full of bumps?" So they release a normal battery, people complain about battery life, and when they release an extended battery with a new cover, people say "WOOOW I WAS WAITING FOR THAT"
Ok thats freakin cool. Boi how i love user replaceable batteries.
