HTC Supersonic for Sprint possibly spotted in the very, very ugly wild
We've seen our fair share of unattractive leak photos in our day -- Mr. Blurrycam is an extraordinarily busy, well-traveled individual, after all -- but this might very well take the cake. What we see here is allegedly the first live shot of HTC's killer Supersonic for Sprint, a phone that we've heard would feature HD2-like specs in an HD2-like shell: 4.3-inch display, fast processor, and an unbelievably thin body, to be specific. Where the Supersonic allegedly goes off the beaten path, though, is with the inclusion of Android 2.1 with Sense and WiMAX, perfect for Sprint's budding 4G network. The site that's leaked the photo also says we can expect an FM radio and a 1GHz clock on that Snapdragon plus a kickstand, something we'd heard before. It's still not much to go on, but the fact that we're this close to falling in love with a phone that we can barely make out through thick artifacting, censoring, and a dirty camera lens really says something, doesn't it? Stay tuned -- we're hopeful the leaks are going to start flowing fast and furious on this one.
[Thanks, Jackson R.]
Update: They've posted closeups of the original shot without the masking -- still not mega high-quality, but getting better. We're not convinced it's real, but we're certainly not convinced it's fake, either.
Update 2: Our trusted tipster (the one that tipped us off to the Supersonic's existence in the first place) tell us that this is, in fact, the real deal. We'll take two, please.
Update 3: And finally it appears in the clear -- image updated above.

so all you android fans, have you ever played with the pre? I've played with android phones and no where as easy to use as a pre. Multi tasking is not multi tasking until you do it on a pre. Yes android you can move apps in your screens and run widgets but with the pre you can open cards (like widgets) and in the menu you can order your apps anyway you want and create lots of menu pages (with a tweak, I have 7 now). If your a VZ fan with the doubled RAM (512 I think), it can run 50 apps (on a precentral video) at a time. Do you need it no, but can your phone do that? How about games? Man pre has some really nice games starting to come out...
@robdmau
How does the Pre have anything to do with this article? For the record, I'm a huge Pre fan (I love the simplicity and beauty of WebOS) but to be honest, I think I'll continue to stick with Android. I love the openness of it. Both Palm and Google have many kinks to work out in their OS so I don't see the use in debating pre vs android on a simple leak post like this which didn't even mention palm (or apple for that matter.. strange for engadget...)
An HD2 with Android... it's a dream come true....
that looks like a better iphone
It looks like the hippie, non-professional sibling of the HD2.
Hmm, that or the Bravo?
@AltDimension
I am confused. The design is outrageous. It is the first model since the Hero that looks like a well-designed phone *and* runs on Android. But I don't need WiMax - but compared to the Bravo it will be a BUY.
Hmm, so the HTC Bravo will *not* be HTC's flagship model with Android and Snapdragon?! Or is "Supersonic" just the end consumer name of the working title "Bravo"=
@Ike Turner, and why is that UTP "connected" to the phone?! Or is it there for very obvious size comparison reasons..............
Sprint, can I have one please?
I'll shine your shoes govener
Pinch and zoom???
@majorhunadadun
The HTC Hero has pinch and zoom so I would imagine that they'd at least carry it over to this device. Still, it'd be better if it enabled natively instead of having to be added in by the handset manufacturer, but kudos to HTC for giving the people what they want.
I hope this comes with adobe's flash though, the HTC on is poop.
I was about to add to Sprint's churn rate but I might just stick around a bit longer if this and/or possibly the Nexus one are coming.
looks like the HD2 is dead before it even came out. in the states anyway.
Whatever happened to your trusted source that said the HTC Incredible is coming to Verizon? I hope it's the same phone as this one but with either LTE compatible or I'll just take 3G ;)
This is my dream Android phone. I am a stickler for big screens.I don't care about 4G since it is still in infancy stage. If you use your phone as a multi-media tool than you need to have the larger screens/higher resolutions . I will have this phone unlocked style on T-MOB. I think that all phones period should have 3.7 screens as the smallest size.The 3.2 inch screens are lousy for watching videos ,movies ,news etc.. So I am pumped for this Beast phone
I don't need to see the Michael Jackson movie now because I'm pretty sure that THIS is actually it!
As soon as this thing comes out I'm upgrading from my Hero, whether these particular pictures are real or not.
I wish I could put the Touch Pro2's keyboard on an HTC Bravo...
Looks quite interesting! Would be nice to get one of these... Hope they do come out for sprint. Looks like it is better than samsungs i8520 even, because of the not p.o.s UI
I was recently told this phone will be available in April. Lets just wait and see how much the Sprint representative that told me really knows. My contact is not up till October, I will either get this or see if some thing better has come along to Sprint since this phone release....
