Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that Apple is
supposedly set to introduce a tablet device (AKA the
Apple Tablet,
iSlate, etc.) at its latest event that will change the lives of every man, woman, and child on the planet. Sure, it could just be a fresh version of iLife and an 8GB iPhone 3GS, but we kinda doubt that. If you know what's best for you, you'll tune in for our minute-by-minute, live coverage of the event. There won't be a better seat in the house... well, except for wherever Steve Jobs is sitting.
The show gets going on
Wednesday, January 27th at 10AM PT.
Here's the URL where you should park your browser, and below are
starting times around the globe:
08:00AM - Hawaii
10:00AM - Pacific
11:00AM - Mountain
12:00PM - Central
01:00PM - Eastern
06:00PM - London
07:00PM - Paris
09:00PM - Moscow
03:00AM - Tokyo (January 28th)
On this blog: There must be a time for Melbourne as well
05:00AM - Melbourne (January 28th)
@micky1234 I didn't give it much thought and was assuming the announcement was late wed for Melbourne. Now I gotta wait til Thurs! hehe. thanks for doing the math!
@djsiek my ipad (no iphone) did the math
I never found the answer for this question:
Why are there many people talking bad about Apple in every post about it?
I mean look at this example, it's a live coverage of an Apple-centric even and there are people here claiming that Apple sucks and are not worth their attention... What are they doing here then?
@EduBrazil
I don't know but I like it. I think there are a nice mix of pro-Apple and non-Apple fans which results in some nice back and forth. Everywhere else its just pro-Apple people and that's just boring. Part of the reason I love Engadget.
WHY? WHY?!? Must you leave out the Friggin Alaska timezone EVERYTIME??? IF your gonna list all the timezones, list Alaska too! IT's real easy, it's the One BETWEEN Hawaii and Pacific! There are geeks in Alaska also!
Here is my prediction: Its not a Tablet, its an Apple TV. An actual tv this time. Something that the whole family can use? A tv, with internet access, apps, games, etc. The family can go online together making the internet a group experience. It also doubles as a giant canvas which is the reason for the paint splashes.
Its larger than 10 inches, it's not a mobile device and it doesn't need a carrier since it runs on home wifi.
The deals with publishing companies and newspapers will be to read on a big screen, so groups of people can read books and newspapers together (like watching television).
It'll also run games on a large screen so it'll be a threat to the console games. TIVO will also be threatened since it can record all tv shows and lets you mix up your favorites so you're in essence creating your own programming.
There's also be a homemade Apple VoIP program so you can have the whole Star Trek viewscreen experience making calls.
The remote will be the iPhone. (SYNERGY!!!!)
the new apple device will be named iPad. someone revealed it at media markt (germany).. you can read the story here http://www.netbooknews.de/12990/apple-ipad-ab-1-maerz-im-media-markt-ab-499-euro-899-euro-ohne-vertrag/
a short translation for all you non english speaking folks:
it will cost 899,- € without contract
it will cost 499,- € with a T-Mobile Complete L contract
monthly costs for this contract are 120€!!!
it will be available on 1.03.2010 (in germany)
Strangely, since this morning I have this locker-scene from men in black in my head where those little guys scream "WAIT! The tablet, the tablet, the tablet, the tablet.........."
So in Australia (AEST) this will be happening at 4:30am on Thursday? I can't miss out =P
Hi,
nobody would video stream this event live? Maybe using Qik on iPhone???
Hurm..
@virus cannon
either that was the most COMPLETE BULLSHEET I've heard,
or you are leaking apple's every detail on the device.
maybe. Just maybe.
@Engadget: Where's a fancy count down timer?
Is it just me or was this thing supposed to being 27 minutes ago? : /
@jmachol I just realized that today is the 26th. :]
@jmachol Yeah... me too... oops :3
I thought live coverage was supposed to start 32 minutes ago, what's going on Engadget?
OMG can't wait and so don't disspoint me apple
I in Moscow will be home after work at 9 PM, and will relax following the coverage. Today I visited the first Apple Store in Russia, Moscow. It looked nice. I will own an Apple Computer some day, just to know how it feels to have one.
I like how Engadget's "Most Commented Stories" right now are apple, apple, apple, and apple.
Is this suppost to be the same as the islate?
wow, no iSlate, no iPad, no Apple Tablet,
It's MacBook Slate.
Cool!
