Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus now on Verizon's site
Update: Just noticed that the limited time, buy one get one offer that promised a free Palm Pixi Plus with your purchase of a Pre Plus isn't active -- it's only being offered along side the Pixi Plus. But let's give VZW a few hours to get their system up and running before burning down the village.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

go Palm!!
Any news/rumors to the reportedly GSM version sometime this quarter (I think) I know full price but would love one unlocked for an ATT sim.
:-)
get your Pre already! I'm on Sprint and effin happy with my Pre(-)! Hopefully by next year we get the Pre 2! Fa sho!
@volvago
Trust it, you don't want to wait til it's to late. That Palm C40 you've all been wondering about will be worth the wait. You might get a sneak peak at the coming up MWC, but shhhh... don't tell them I told you anything.
interesting... if Palm is around in a year and not bought up. I'd rather wait for the Nexus One for VZW in March and go from there.
CEO impersonators. All I can say is....LOL! You guys need to get out more, but stick to providing me my comedy for the day, just get out a little more.
That's all.
They fail to state in the feature list that pre pixi nor droid can talk surg n gps at same time. There are many reasons y apple is still ahead of the competition n this is one of many.
@logic thinker
you do realize that talk and surf at the same time it's not something new that was invented by apple right?? You should mayble learn that with gsm phones you are able to do that. Now on to multitasking can you even listen to pandora and txt at the same time on ur iphone? Can you open at least 20 applications or 50 like the pre plus on ur iphone?
umm maybe vzw should counter sue att on their commercials for saying you can't talk and surf at the same time with verizon because you can surf and talk using wifi with a vzw phone. Commercial claims is impossible but it can be done or at least att should claim when vzw is not nearby wifi hotspot it can be done on their phones.

Chances are if you polled 1,000 people to see how many have run into this problem you may get about 4 people and 3 of them will not have read the questions correctly. iPhoney is now the failing piece of outdated tech while Palm Pre and Droid does everything better. Try fixing bluetooth to work correctly or even try keeping a call then we can talk.
I can't wait to pick this up tomorrow!
I wonder, does the pre with Web OS -which is Linux based -come with a terminal shell program? I would for sure change the root password, if I was allowed.
@Funkendoodles Not by default, but there's a homebrew app for that. Every Pre owner should check out PreCentral.net and Preware(homebrew app/patch/theme loader).
So let me get this straight... If i buy a pre from verizon, they want 24 months * 30 per month data.
But Sprint doesnt charge for data with pre.
So... Verizon wants $690 more than Sprint for their Pre.... lol fuck off Big Red.
@DOUGSKEEZ
Or the big red can keep fucking me because 24*30 is 720 and I'm too spineless to leave.
Great news for US !!! i hope it will come soon in France !!! i could read SFR carrier will sell it in France. My next mobile i guess !!!! please US users give us report.
Ew, $600 off-contract for the Pre. Screw that for WebOS development plans.
Anyone else notice the sharp decline in price on eBay from launch to, say, now for the Sprint Pre? They went from $4-500 at launch to under $200 now.
Being a Verizon Wireless customer I decided to check out the info they have on it. Verizon"s website is having a hissy today.. nothing is working Myverizon page is not giving me my normal options
Off to the Verizon store today to pick this up and switch from TMo--hopefully I'll get a signal in my apartment now! I'm going to beg for the online discount in store--wish me luck.
@NYTechie Good Luck.. if they are anything like the ones around here it'll be like pulling teeth
@Major Payne
Thanks, I'm going to need it. I'm moving several lines over, so hopefully they'll throw me a bone!
@NYTechie I've been a customer for over 6 years and they have yet to throw me a bone. Which is pretty sad in my opinion. I'm about ready to jump ship to Sprint my bill is already 161(17% discount) with only 2 phones and 1 is a Centro with a data plan the other is not a data type phone. in order to get 2 Pre (fiancee wants one) it'll jump my bill 30 bucks
@ Major Payne. Make the jump...you won't regret it. I had the exact same plan as you on VZ with 1 Centro and 1 Samsung Alias. I was paying $160/mo with no included txt/mms messaging. Now I have 2 Pres and pay $130/mo. I get unlimited text, mms, nights & weekends @ 7pm. And unlike the 10 numbers I got with VZ for unlimited calling, Sprint gives you unlimited calls to ALL mobile phones, regardless of carrier.
@ePimp Oh I SOOOOO want to.. The only thing stopping me is my fiancee who takes freaking forever to make a decision. I even broke down and made a excel spreadsheet show here the benefits. she said don't push me... sigh....
I was tempted to switch to from the Droid to the Pre Plus because I really like Web OS over Android but two things held me back:
1. Pre has no free GPS, and VZ Navigator isn't as nice as Google's GPS
2. Pre has lower screen resolution
@Aleman: Considering the original Pre comes with Sprint Navigator for free, I'm surprised Verizon decided to continue gouging their customers on VZ Navigator. Maybe they figured they were being generous enough with their new plan pricing (yeah, right).
It's true the resolution is slightly lower on the Pre, but webOS scales graphics so well, it's still a thing of beauty to look at.
No BOGO Pre Plus w/ Pixi Plus. Still no love... Phone order, on-line order - nada
Palm's stealth marketing about this launch is an interesting technique.
honestly out of all the phones in the market.. This phone really does standout.. the Pre is gorgeous.. Cant wait to see palm go up the ranks!
Pre Plus? Old news already. I'm holding out for the Pre++.
Aha! The Pre+Pixi BOGO is live on the web site! Quote: "Buy the Palm® Pre™ Plus and Get a Palm® Pixi™ Plus FREE!"
@danjb BUT if you're an existing V customer, you have to do a phone order to get the discount. The upgrade menu won't apply the discount. ...which means that I'm only getting the discount through mail-in rebates. Blurgh.
I got it! Went to the Verizon store and picked up the Pre Plus for $250 plus a $100 mail-in rebate and a Pixi Plus for $100 plus a $100 mail-in rebate. Annoying to mail in rebates, but worth it to get a free Pixi.
Where is the advertising? I don't see the Pre on Verizon's home page even.
@jarobusa There is no advertising. Verizon seems to consider this just another phone (meaning not anywhere close to the Droid), and Palm shot their wad back last summer with a horrible add campaign and have no money left in the ad budget to do a new one it seems.
Marketing is (at least) half the battle in this market now, and that is where Palm made their biggest mistake sadly.
I'm really interested in this phone and went to the local store to get a hands-on. Is it just me or is the keyboard a real pain in the ass to use? I loved the dimensions of the phone compared to my 3GS and i'm really digging the phone in general, but my typing speed on the Pre is absolutely horrid compared to my 3GS...and i've had experience with hard keyboards with BB and E71 so it's not simply because i'm so much more use to virtual keyboards.
@MarkPharaoh
It is just you. I can't imagine touching glass to type, it would not feel natural. Most people are used to pressing something down when typing. It just feels natural to sense when your fingers make contact.
The keyboard is one of the things I love the most about the Palm Pre. I can type a few lines of text quite fast before hitting a wrong key. And the keys have a very tactile nice feel, when I press on a key and it makes contact, I can tell. There is a nice feel of a spring action pushing my finger back up when contact is made. I loved the keyboard the minute I started using it, and I have had the phone now for about 7 months. Another thing I like about the keyboard is that it slides from under the screen, so when I am typing, I can see the whole screen.
The problem with on-screen typing as on the iPhone 3GS is that about half the screen is taken up by the letters. I like to see as many lines of text as I can when I am typing. And also, I cannot see myself touching letters on a screen to type; it would not feel natural to me. So to me, typing on my Palm Pre smart phone is like having something interesting to do while I am typing, just like the feeling I get when typing on my computer keyboard. It just feels real!
Stupid verizon. I got a new phone a couple months ago and will have to pay $599 to get this from them. thanks, but no thanks.
Hey Verizon PLEASE come up to Canada. We sure do need the competition and your guys' deals and quality service. Can you hear me now?
OK...advice please. Heres the situation. Time for contract renewal with Sprint, but they don't have the Pre Plus. Have been with Sprint for YEARS and no complaints. Now faced with Pre Plus and/or Droid at Verizion for what looks like more coin...would like to avoid the hassle of switching providers. Should I just get the Pre at Sprint?...or make the switch. P.S. Had an I phone for 5 days, returned it, service s***ed! Dropped more calls in 5 days, than 5 years with Sprint.
i've had this phone for a week and dislike it intensely. it takes 3 to 5 seconds from when you hit "reply" to an email, to when you can actually start typing. there are very pronounced lag issues when trying to do anything, and it's annoying. and the battery life, even when i have one or two applications open, is horrendous. from 7am to noon, it will only have 50% charge left. i don't mind the keyboard because i'm used to the palm centro, but come on - this thing will not sync with palm desktop.
