Once again, Steorn promises to finally prove that free, clean, and constant energy can be produced by its Orbo technology -- principle of the conservation of energy be damned! -- on a webcast this upcoming Saturday. Of course, they might have similarly proven their point during a previous web event... or maybe they haven't. At this point, we've heard so many outlandish claims that we're having a hard time keeping 'em straight, but we've never been one to turn down a gratis comedy show after a hard day's night. Tune in if you find yourself in the mood for a chuckle. Or don't. Chances are you won't miss much anything.

@The Shadow The universe expanding is just a case of some weird thing, but energy is most definitely conserved. Also, everything falls apart, so in no way can this machine create order out of disorder (just ask Okonkwo).

Ok what the heck? I just read up on their site and it seems that they are MAKING energy? Hell that's impossible, energy can only be transformed. It's never disposed of. Anything such as a remote thought should just make the whole universe go black in a blip. That's how I always picture it ending when science goes crazy like this.

Just a little bit TOO easy to bash these guys. Who the hell knows anything might happen before long right now, this time. Let's just wait and see. Mockery helps no-one. If calling it "tosh" or "crap" or "blarney" makes some of the lesser amongst us feel better then maybe that's ok, but if any of you knew of the quantum mechanical observer-effect principle, you'd know your mockery if fucking irritating and might just well have real, negative effects. I don't normally swear. That's how fucking irritating mockery in general is.

Now, why is anybody getting so exhilerated by these things. Let's just sit and wait. My impression is, that these people at Steorn are technicians not scientists and sometimes people with a practical approach stumble over things without exactly knowing what's going on. Maybe it is just some kind of energy transformation and their gain is something elses loss they and we do not know about yet. Maybe they are just cheaters (but cheaters do not come up with a fake that does not work to start with in general). Who cares - there has been so much cheating in the scientiffic community (Korean chemical fusion, discovery of the "HIV Virus", photon teleportation etc.) that we simply should allow these people to put up their show and be heared.

I agree, there is no scam here that I can see. They're not crying for investors, promising to return a small purchase a thousand times so that they can nickel and dime the world until they disappear. They're simply stating that they see what they think is over-unity.
There's much about magnetic forces that we still don't understand, and I see it as a possibility that this is a previously unknown property of magnetism which is still preserving the laws of thermodynamics but converting energy from a source we don't fully understand yet.
There have been numerous scientific advances throughout history that have been originally stated as impossible and heres, and many advances that were found completely by accident.
It is extremely arrogant and unscientific to say that we fully understand all interactions within our universe and that there could not possibly be anything that occurs outside of our current established scientific "laws". I put laws in quotes because our laws are not decided facts, they're simply repeatable observations, meaning that our laws will only be absolute when we have observed everything in the universe. Until then they may be very accurate and largely true but there will be exceptions to every rule (compare physics in the macro world to the micro world and nano world).
There is no harm here in waiting to see what comes of this, and if it actually works it could be a remarkable change to our world. If it doesn't work, well, we haven't really lost out on anything.
