Mad Catz makes the Wii a fighter with moddable FightStick
The Wii may not be the console of choice for most fighting game fans, but it is starting to earn a bit more respect with the release of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom and, just as importantly Mad Catz's new Arcade FightStick to go along with it. The best news, however, is that like Mad Catz's fightsticks for other consoles, this one is moddable for those that prefer some arcade authentic parts, and it even packs a few features not found its Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts. Most notably, that includes a toggle switch that will let the arcade stick control either the d-pad of the classic controller or the left or right analog stick, meaning you'll also be able to use it with an array of Virtual Console titles. Look for this one to set you back $80.

I'll pass. I'll use the Classic Controller till this thing is in the bargain bin.
It's a great case, but the buttons and stick are crap....the genuine Sanwa arcade parts are another $50 on top of the $80 for the stick.
@xCrunk It's definitely worth the upgrade if you value fighting games. Anybody who's upgraded to Sanwa or Seimitsu parts will swear by them, myself included.
Oh... but this is the Wii version we're talkin here...
@Ruiz I agree. Make the ps3 or xbox360 $80 and moddable and it becomes a better sell.
@xCrunk this is not the old SE, these are new buttons and components.
why go for Sanwa parts.
@iamlilysdad it already is. the ps3 one is 70 and a few weeks ago mad catz had a buy one get one deal
What a waste.
@sintricate you can buy the same thing for other consoles, except this one will sell a lot more.
this designed to lower the barrier of entry for a "real" fight stick for the "advanced" fighter while giving it the customization options for the hardcore fighter (usually not american lol which is y we don't get it.) $130 (stick + sanwa parts) is a deal for a good fight stick.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is really the only game worth playing with this controller. Any other game worth playing probably can be played on the PC, which both the Xbox and PS3 fighsticks support.
I doubt a "Cthulhu" type board could be made to give Wii support to Xbox or PS3 fightsticks. Would be pretty awesome though. I'll just stick with a modded Xbox/PS3 fighstick though. :)
@Ruiz The Cthulhu boards work with Gamecube, and the Wii has Gamecube ports. That's probably the better way to design a stick for Wii since dealing with wireless controller syncing at large-scale tournaments can be a headache.
"... it even packs a few features not found its Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts. Most notably, that includes a toggle switch that will let the arcade stick control either the d-pad of the classic controller or the left or right analog stick..."
The Xbox360 and PS3 sticks do this, too. In fact the Wii stick really doesn't have any significant differences from the Xbox360 and PS3 versions, except that it connects into a Wiimote.
@drumist This. At least do some research before posting an article, jeez.
Cool or whatever, but I'll stick(LOLZ!) with my X-Arcade and Gamecube adapter.
o shooot...that's pretty cool haha. i played tatsunoko vs. capcom at an arcade and it's pretty cool haha.

i want it now!
@giaomo
Saw it at a Best Buy in MD
it's online too: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Mad+Catz+-+Tatsunoko+VS.+Capcom+Arcade+FightStick+for+Nintendo+Wii/9732446.p?id=1218162163598&skuId=9732446&st=arcade&cp=2&lp=3
it is already got new buttons and components not the Old SE version so it probably in between SE & TE, it could be upgradeable to Sanwa buttons if need in the Future after, but most people are Wii casual gamers and this will be more than enough especially with the good reviews on some sites.
This thing is all 1995...I want one.
Yeah it's exactly what I was thinking. It's brand new but it's got that mid-90's look.
