This is the coolest picture frame I have ever seen. At $499, I am getting just for that, and only that.
...Maybe when it has a camera I might consider the 3G option.
hmmm... iPhone!
In a word: underwhelmed.
The publishers that have signed do not publish many books of intellect.
There is no phone in the device (was thinking some kind of wireless link up to a headpiece at least?!) meaning ANOTHER piece of hardware to stuff into my hand luggage.
iWork? really? Sorry but corporate is going to stick with microsoft methinks...
No webcam?! pah..
With the above in mind its just a big iPod Touch (more like touching cloth?!) and who wants wants one of those? No thanks...
LOL LCD display. by tthe way, full video iPad presentation full, follow this: http://bit.ly/99N8cC
@cherryboom
I hope the iPad has a good spell-checker because you are going to need it.
both of them suck.
If only it had android on it...
this article might as well be called "Apples vs. Oranges... fight!"
fuggin stupid.
Well it is exactly as I thought it would be. A tablet with the form factor of an iPod/Phone. It was a good move and a risk well worth taking in the tablet market. More like an IPod than an average E-reader, iWork app adds teeth to this iPod on Roids'. Since I happen to be fond of, actually love, my iPodTouch, it's not hard to see myself on the sofa or jetting around with an iPad.
in all fairness, I don't have an iPhone, I have a 32GB IPodTouch. So I don't have the phone and camera features to miss.
Yes i do have a smart phone the Pre.
AT&T data plans are just ridiculous.
So having an IPod only, there's a natural tendency for me to have a more favorable view of the iPad, which I do. I think it is a good device and niche to challenge. Apple has, though a bit product redundant, made a good move in the tablet market.
IPhone vs. IPad Winner = Apple

People will vote with their money!
16GB is a let down (the base should have been 32GB) 64GBHigh end = Ipod has the same = also a let down (should be at least 128GB)= mores law = double the transistors (memory bits for storage) every 18 months... get to it or stick a freaking memory expansion slot like SD or micro sd in your things~
It will be interesting to see how the market responds when this iPad hits the underwear of the Apple stores.....
I love my MBP, I like my iPhone but the iPad...Are you having a laugh?
If nothing else, this has to be the most overhyped, underwhelming 'toy' of the new Decade. Well done Apple.
Oh, and one more thing...
NEVER trust a man who tucks his sweater into his jeans.
So in summary this is pretty much a faster, over sized ipod touch; or is it a larger neutered iphone? Either way here we are the ipad.
Maybe the should re-name the ipod touch the iTampon or just iPon.
iPad vs iPhone??? Different target markets entirely. Magazines and newspapers and a salesman's briefcase and tons of stuff none of us have thought of yet.
1. It puts the traditional way of selling ads and newspapers back in play ---> Advertising. Read your magazine page and the ads are imbeded in the page. Magazines are going to be giving these things away to their subscriber base. Newspapers... same thing.
2. Sales. Some direct salesman working for Abbott Labs, instead of pulling out a notebook sized flip chart and giving a half-a**ed presentation, pulls out his iPad gives a spectactacular presentation then checks inventory at the warehouse via his Abbott Warehouse Inventory App and books the order on his Abbott Order Processing App. He has the decision maker sign the order then emails a receipt and a copy of everything to the customer. The order is shipped the same day. Taking 36 hours off the sales cycle... reducing the carrying costs for inventory, etc.
Then while on the plane home he reads the new technical manuals for his product line.
It's not the iPad... it's really the Apple II. Another revolution has begun.
Looks like there are heaps of people that hate this thing!!!
Not a bad toy to have around the house, i mean saves you carrying a laptop around but still has all the basic functions. Lets face it, as much as i love my iPhone, when it comes to movies, emails and internet browsing, there is only so much pinching you can do. The screen is a little bit small, i think having an iPad lying around the house will solve that problem! Also, it great for uni, you have all iWork functions without carrying a laptop. Not sure you need the 3G really. Wouldn't really need to take this on the road, although you never know.
This is like the Special Olympics of electronics. It was one thing to have such limited capabilities on a phone. The missing pieces on this iPad are just too mane to swallow. iPhone wins. (I never though those two words would be juxtaposed that way by my fingers.)
A Glorified iPod Touch with optional 3G. This is supposed to be better than a netbook?
The iTouch/iPhone wins in my opinion. The iPad is just overhyped and doesnt seem to replace anything I have or fit in with my lifestyle. I don't feel like paying an extra $200 for a bigger screen. Besides, the iPad's size seems like more of a hinderance than a feature. I'm not seeing what's so "magical" about the iPad.
c'mon how can you compare...only if you put an ipad in your pocket
