Did you not hear what The Almighty Jobs said? Netbooks aren't better at anything. LMAO. except for the part where my lenovo S-10 running a full OS can play 720p without frameskip. Sadly not on a HD display though. : (
P.S. I'm a huge Apple fanboy, but i think the whole iPad idea will take a couple of generations to actually get it all the way right. I see a lot of good *ideas* in it, but not put to good use.
@fr3z3rburn I'm with yougys, 489$ at newegg buys you a eepc 1201n from newegg, nVidia ion gpu, up to 8gb ram all on a sleek netbook that could spank this thing and with a full 64bit OS... this thing is a fail, while it looks cool and has the usual glamour around it, My iPhone and iPod are awesome, other than that... bleh
@Tuxedo Just that its still a slow as crap atom, slowed down even more if you run it with a 64bit OS - and whats the point of 8gigs of RAM with an atom?
Makes as little sense as no flash and multitasking support and the lack of a webcam on the ipad.
@Bahumbug I'd take a 1.66ghz 667mhz FSB with 2gb ram over the capabilities of this iPad anyday... wouldn't you? the portability and ability to do work for 500bucks on a netbook is awesome...
@Tuxedo to touchpads on netbooks makes me want to take a baseball bat to the people who designed them. GET a DESIGN CLUE from the 4" glass action on the macbook: using a netbook trackpad is like trying to insert a dildo shaped like a question mark! Likewise the battery life of netbooks sucks wind, and most Atom rigs drag a## with XP and run like a really wet donkey with 64 bit 7 action..... and this is not a netbook, but I agree it is not better than a netbook either- just different and in many good ways and many bad ways too!
LOL. Superior in what way? Ain't no Atom faster than the 1 GHz Cortex A9 MPcore, buddy. And please tell me you think your netbook's cheapass shit quality monitor is better than the iPad's LED backlit IPS panel. Because that would be hilarious.
@Tuxedo You just threw a bunch of tech buzzwords out there to prove a point, didnt you? Because personally id love to see what an Atom tries to do with 8GB of RAM.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
*strokes cheaper yet superior netbook with 1.6GHz Atom*
