Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t multitouch tablet up for order with Atom N470
If you have yet to join the Pine Trail party, how about this multitouch tablet netbook from Lenovo? Word has it that you can now order the IdeaPad S10-3t with Atom N470 processor (along with 250GB HDD, 2GB RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit) billed at $649 -- $100 more than its N450-equipped sibling (160GB HDD, 1GB RAM and Windows 7 Starter). Mind you, the page does say that it won't be shipped for at least four more weeks, and this spec isn't even listed on the main product page yet, but the source link's there for you reckless venturers.[Thanks, OneLove]

IN before comparisons.....
Again, too much bezel!
@One Love Howz would you comparez this to a overpriced Digi Photo Frame?
@Eternity Too much bezel? Where else did you plan on laying you fingerprints, on the screen?
this thing looks pretty cool
a bit expensive
im really looking to the new X200.....
man the day they come out.... mhmmm hmmmm
@(Unverified)
It does look pretty cool, but Win 7 Starter doesnt have the touch features! So you'd have to go for the $649 model.
Personally, i think if you want a tablet you should buy something like the hp tm2. Its small enough to go with you everywhere, more powerful than a netbook, has an active digitiser, which is awesome for note-taking, discreet graphics means it should do HD content fine, plus its got a full-size (apparantly awesome) keyboard.
This is coming from my experience with my hp tx2500z. Just my 2 cents really

ah whoops, you said you were looking forward to the x200t, missed that XD.
yeah that looks pretty sweet too!!
@(Unverified) What's this about a new X200t? The x200t has been out for a while now...

Not an iPad Post? Savor while you can everyone.
@AlienSix ewww it has multitasking...
@AlienSix
What? It has flash? How dare u challenge our already complete internet experience!
@AlienSix But I wanted to pay 200 dollars more for my iPad. I guess I'll have to settle for being able to do anything I want as opposed to what Apple decides I'm allowed to...
@Chird ...and what 140,000 apps let you do, of course.
Keyboard, Operating System, Flash, Multitasking
almost seems...magical
@yulebellow
Almost REVOLUTIONARY!
@Eternity I bet you can watch hulu, use skype and even read ebooks on it!
@Hydra It doesn't have an Apple logo so it must suck.
Wait a second... I have an Apple sticker from my iPod Touch I can put on it. *Affixes BIG WHITE APPLE LOGO onto netbook*
"Now it's the most PERFECT device EVER!
@Hydra Damn it sounds like you might actually use a FILE MANAGER to access your own shit.
Oh and what do we have here? A Billion Apps store called the internet...
@yoko1324 if only I could have one with10 years of applecare
otherwise it's just an IBM with an orange sticker on it
And it even supports Flash! ;)
Wow, more storage, more features, Flash support, multi tasking, portability, and long battery life, all for less than an iPad!
But remember, its "slow" and not "a gaming device."
@ScienceProUSAcom
And it isnt better than anything!.... cept the iPad rofl.
@CJisohsocool wrong
its not better than an ipad
an ipad has the simplicity of a phone and a giant universal remote put together
-perfect for old people
do NOT say iPad killer, iPad is already DEAD! it just committed suicide..
@Steve CEO Ballmer
iPad Killer
@Steve CEO Ballmer
It's not dead yet.
And neither is the newton
I still use them everyday to take notes about what I need to buy on HD-DVD and Betamax
Lenovo Skylight looks more attractive I think--looks like ChromeOS too.
Now only if it has Nvdia Ion chip..
How heavy is this thing? I want one.
I find it strange people bitch about iPad posts yet talk about it in every other mobile device post since it was unveiled. Your just proving Engadget right about the level of interest in Apples new product. Make up your minds.
@philhanson I think it's because people like to make fun of crappy products (epically from [Cr]Apple) but hate hearing about them over 20 times and everything else mentioned maybe twice
If iPad wasn't mentioned everywhere and didn't have all these articles about it alone then it would be alright
Worthless vid chip. Why no Ion?
Its kind of pointless without a wacom digitizer option.
@Synergi
it's capacitive probably 1st of the netbook tablets with capacitive screen. Though the screen size resolution could have been larger like Gigabytes tablet T1028 - 1368x768
i've been eyein this for the last few weeks... up until today the N470 option was there to order on lenovo's site... mysteriously today it went missing and only 2 variations of the base model were left.... both said shipped within 9 days earlier today... now just 1 of them... the other, 4 weeks... i don't know what's going on... there arent any options for the 8 cell battery yet that i've read on other sites; it's supposed to give it a 10 hr running time... and the thing is 2.76 lbs with 4 cell... 3.16 lb with 8 cell battery... i'm craving this...
@iceykola I'm wondering the same thing and the sales person I called had no knowledge of anything more than just looking at the same lenovo site.
Looks pretty good, except for the FKING WHITE KEYBOARD! More Apple crap. It's impractical and it will look dirty in like 2 months. Come on Lenovo, stick with black.
@sonicyoof Funny enough that 1) my first dozen or so pc keyboards were white, and 2) most Apple laptops have black keyboards now.
But otherwise, I appreciate your effort to ascribe every aesthetic choice you don't like to the aspirational market leader that you can't afford.
@Jayratch
Come on, now. You know that white in electronics means one of two things: kitchen appliances or Apple.
And no, I can't afford Apple products. Instead, I built my own powerful PC for under $1,000 that rivals any Apple desktop twice the price.
Looks like I fell out of love for the expensive, underpowered, wide-bezelled Fujitsu U820. Think I have a transfer of affection now to this new baby.
The iPad sucks, BUT.. what apple did right was the hardware: an ARM-tegra-SSD combination is FAR MORE efficient than a atom-onboard graphics-HDD combination.
@MaTdg
Windows?
@Wolfticket 1) Do you really need a full blown desktop-version windows on a device like this?
2) If the answer on 1 is 'yes': why?
@MaTdg
Need? No. Want? Yes.
Because it is basically a netbook-tablet convertible (and not a particularity light one at 1.25-1.5kg). It has a keyboard, trackpad, usb ports etc. Why would I not want a full desktop OS on it?
@Wolfticket No heavy desktop windows = no need for a underpowered, energie-eating x86(-64) atom processor. A SSD instead of a HDD makes your devices a little lighter.
Microsoft really needs to rethink about the Win 7 starter edition interface for tablet touchscreens as most of the apps are not touchscreen friendly and optimized for small screens as far as icons, buttons and sliders goes. Otherwise it's quite responsive just don't expect it do hard graphical or 3d tasks.
Finally I will be able to get some multitouch laptop viruses I wonder what they will do...
@pankomputerek From reading the comments here I'd say they will post comments on Engadget about how great Windows is to use with your fingers. I mean surely no human would believe that.
