So... you reply to a post. While replying, the original post is removed.
Result: your reply is applied to a different post entirely, making you look senile.
@PyRo1509
No. You can't even spell "corresponding" correctly. (see sentence above the map)
@(Unverified) How do we know you aren't actually senile and thus posted to the wrong comment to start with?
@WebBuddha I have to be honest, this site is a lot more balanced than others. I'm talking especially about Gizmodo. Read the last two days worth of posts there and then come back here and you'll be singing praises for Engadget.
I think this poll reflects more on the Apple fanboys that read this site or just come to vote on this particular poll. It's hard to avoid these people on any site. Although I do feel like Apple doesn't even belong in some categories considering there was virtually nothing new with the product.
As for actual coverage of Apple on this site, I think it's right where it needs to be...mostly fair and not gushing over everything Steve Jobs touches.
@WebBuddha
Sorry that would still be Gizmodo
@(Unverified)
*This poll was supposed to close on Sat the 20th, seriously engadget.*
"some dirty work is afoot lads!"
and how is iPhone not winning smartphone category?
best commenter??
@trevr
Thats me the best!!!
someone needs to EmployWayne.com
@trevr Paul A Chapel
@trevr
+1 vote for you ;)
@Jon Rubinstein
I must admit, even though I didn't vote for the Pre (iPhone 3GS user here), I will vote for you as my favorite commenter of the year. Your timing and witty quotes are something to behold.
@trevr
i say skyblaze owns
@(Unverified) Not true - in portable device of the year, Zune HD is in the lead.
@Indefinite Implosion
Point is: it was the most anticipated. Whether it lived/lives up to the hype is irrelevant. You can be sure that there will be no other gadget coming out in 2010 that has had/will have anywhere near as much anticipation as the iPad. Hence a rightful win in that category.
@trevr Woulda been me a few years ago... bah
@(Unverified) thats funny sense i pod touch didn't win the mp3 one
@(Unverified)
Yes like: "2009 Engadget Awards - Game Console of the Year"
And yes iPhone 3GS is there...
SINCE WHEN THE IPHONE 3GS IS a F@CKING GAME CONSOLE ?????
Oh no we are not promoting Apple... no no no.......
@Blastar The 3GS is my primary gaming console (~2 hours/day). toucharcade is the most vibrant single-platform gaming forum I've seen. Way cheaper than all other gaming platforms (free-10$ for nearly every game vs 15-40 on other consoles).
@(Unverified) WHAT ABOUT THE TOUCH PRO2! NOT EVEN LISTED? COME ON. BS AWARDS. Nokia N900 IS GARBAGE YET IT'S LISTED AND NOT THE TOUCH PRO2 WICH BEATS IT IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. SHAME ON YOU ENGADGET SHAME ON A N@#$ FOR TRYING TO RUN GAME ON A N#@$$.
Why is the iPhone not in the "Worst Gadget of the Year" category? :)
@Laura June:
"Portable Media Device of the Year" has a blank option.
@One Love. Cos' it's in the best. Oxymorons are frowned upon in this world
@One Love hard to be in the best and worst at the same time...
@One Love
Word. Palm Pre soundly pwns it in [almost] all aspects.
@AlaskanHandyman: Have you not heard of 50%? It's a poll!
When we were asked to give suggestions for "Worst Gadget of the Year" lots of people said "iPhone".
Can I cast my vote for next year?
2010 Engadget Awards - Worst Gadget of the Year
(x) Apple iPad - *winner!*
(because I know how stubborn Apple is once its made a decision on a product design)
@One Love SO the iPhone 3Gs is apparently a "game console" now
@One Love
How is it in the Game console section?
Sheesh, once gain, full of apple fanbois.
I wonder who is gonna win biggest fail of the year!
Yeah, PC is not in "Game Console of the Year" category, but iPhone 3GS is?
I Googled "iPhone 3GS becomes a game console" and got nothing back. :)
I fixed it:
http://i49.tinypic.com/4i1xtg.jpg
@Eternity Yup, I agree. When did that happen? iPhone3gs as a game console .. the worst part is .. people are voting for it! Yay!
@One Love
Good job man
You put where it deserves to be
IF this isnt evidence enough of how the editors of this site are Apple biased I don't know what is. Every category is loaded with Apple iPhone 3GS (also posted near the top of each list subconsciously?) and the Most Anticipated Device? Talk about a loaded category! The other options besides the iPad are more than obscure. What about adding the Verizon iPhone to that anticipated category?
@JoeBlow - The nominations were based on votes from Engadget READERS.
In other words, this is basically your fault.
@AlienSix because it doesn't officially exist yet (neither did the ipad as of the nominations....but it's not like it'll win now unless the fanboys are REALLY desperate)
i guess i don't understand how the 3gs is up for best gadget of the year when there was so many other things out there that were major shifts in the respective sector. The 3gs was more of the same with slightly more power and a compass.... just my thoughts. course the ipad is more of the same with a new size format and there are several people going crazy for that.
@TravisAdams
It's not "most revolutionary gadget of the year"... it's BEST gadget of the year... totally agree that the 3GS was just a bit evolution of the 3G model, but putting all the devices launched last year... sorry, my vote has to be the 3GS, which is still years ahead of everything... and before anyone throw rocks at me, I'm not a fanboy and I hate many things about Apple... but can't deny what this phone is guys... I just love mine.
fix the damn portable media device of the year!!!!!... I KNOW THAT LAST SLOT IS THE ZUNE HD ENGADGET, I KNOW WHAT YOU"RE UP TO!!!
@skyblaze It is the Zune HD -- in fact, it was the first entry in our spreadsheet when we made these lists! We're fixing now, give us a sec.
@Nilay Patel What are you going to do with the votes for blank? If those just disappear and you start the 'HD off fresh with 0, all hell is going to break loose in here.
@Nilay Patel
awesome! now i can sleep at night
@MarcusMaximus
currently "blank" is beating both the zune hd and the ipod nano o_o
@skyblaze Okay, I just made a new poll and started it over, for fairness. We didn't have the iPod touch on there either, for some reason.
Gentleman, start your engines.
@Nilay Patel
Why are the iPhone/iPod Touch even still being listed. It didn't bring anything new for 2009, just updates that should have been there in the first place. These awards should go to new gadgets that were released in 2009, not updates. The only things that should remain sort of the same are the game consoles.
Next year just give all the awards to the iPhone. Skip this charade.
@daytripper To be fair, the Zune HD is winning over the iPod Touch right now.
@daytripper
64gb is new. That is pretty much the only reason I got the iPod touch over the Zune HD.
@IBrian
Adding memory doesnt make it a new device. If it did, there should be a lot more of laptops and desktop machines there that are 2 years old with incresed hard disks this year.
@AlienSix. Most anticipated doesn't mean how good it turned out to be
For some reason, I feel as if some of these categories are rigged..
@TruUnknowN
This is the "beauty" of a poll...
