A certain UK bank operates a delightfully dorky advertising campaign whose slogan is "we give you extra." Well, in the case of mobile software communities, that's exactly the case. From
jailbroken iPhones to
PS One-emulating HD2s to
multitouch-enabled browsing on the Nexus One, the one group of people we know we can truly rely on are
other geeks. So let's salute those heroes once more, in recognition of the VisualBoyAdvance -- a webOS-based emulator for Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games. The former two categories are said to play smooth as you like, whereas the Advance stuff suffers from slight slowdown at present. We've only seen it playing on a Pre, but there should be no reason why your Pixi wouldn't be allowed in on this party. A quick video demo awaits after the break, and the source link has all the installation details you'll need.
gotta love some classic Mario :D
The real question is. Why is so hard For Nintendo to just release Mario kart. Any Zelda. Smash bro. Super Mario 64 or pokemon for the iPhone,WebOS,Android or any mobile phone? I know some of ya gonna say is because then they might loose some sales of the ds but who that hell use ds anymore? Not even my lil cuz that is 10 want a ds. Nintendo should go with the flow n release them game for mobile phone n I het they would make a lot of money out of them. Just my opinion

@Flacofromny23
hmmm... because it competes with their hardware maybe!?!
http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/nintendo-admits-apple-iphone-is-ds-competitor-621316
@Flacofromny23 It's NOT released by Nintendo.
It's an emulator if you haven't noticed, ported by some good soul who made our life happier. If you legally own any game rom, you can put it on to the emulator and play, Zelda, Mario and etc.
@mcdull Um, yeah... legal...
@Flacofromny23 I'm playing my nintendo ds right now! Pokemon is the business!
Said UK bank has since been taken over by Lloyds and appears to have moved onto fake cheesy radio shows playing Spandau Ballet's Gold for their advertising. It's really annoying, but at least a pint size Halifax employee called Howard isn't bloody singing it!
Not to mention it's skin-able and constantly being updated! Plus, palm (somewhat) supports homebrew apps and publicly acknowledges and compliments the homebrew community! I'm sure Apple will do that once they get around with flash, and a keyboard, and new carriers, and... nevermind.
Palm Pre is awesome. I hope Windows Mobile 7 takes some design cues from webOS like Android already has.
no pixi support = fail
the Pixi has weaker hardware than the Pre, so it might not be able to do it.
Still Palm Pre is Lame!!! It will always be an Iphone Wannabe!!!
What the hell? VisualBoyAdvance is a Windows GameBoyAdvance emulator!
@otarolgam No it is a Cross Platform emulator. It works on Windows, Linux, MacOSX, Wii, Xbox, and now the Pre.
@tavisjohn add Nokia N900 to the list :) and also there is GBA emulator for Symbian
Eh. I tried playing Pokemon Red and it was probably about 80% frame rate even with the sound off. It also took much longer than even Need For Speed did to put the game into card view and multitask.
I'll wait a little while. I'm sure it will improve with time.
Awesome for the Pre to have, next like 20,000 more apps, then a great gmail app and google calender, and a d pad and I'm all in, til then the Motorola Cliq will stay on constant ebay watch. I do like the look and feel of the Pre, but once I was able to hack and put Neo Geo CD emulators on my PSP, I expect every device to emulate games in some manner, but without a d pad its a fail for me. :( Sorry Palm
YES !!! Finally i love engadget more now that they got rid of apple news. Why didnt they do it earlier? Im tired of hearing of apples' POS expensive crapola. THANK YOU FOR HAVING THIS DONE. im bookmarking this ASAP
while watching the video, I'm also playing the same Mario Kart on the Nokia N900 and why it doesn't get any coverage in Engadget?
Anyway, it's good to see people are more aware of what other phones can done, rather than anything begins with letter i will get coverage
Won't work on the Pixi. Sorry everyone. Check PreCentral.net for more info.
This is the emulator I use for my GBA ROMs, and I use KEGA Fusion for my Genesis and 32X ROMs. On my PC.
