Probably the worst idea for self defense weapon ever. If you carry daily you'd better prey there is no technological "glitch" if you need to use the weapon.
In self defense, the most simple gun to maintain and use is first and foremost. The concept is totally horrible.
@stevetim To preface, I have my CHL, daily carry, and have plenty of other weapons from a fitty cal dealge (woot) to pretty tricked out colt AR15.
I like guns, but I also realize that for people with a family, the statistical probability of a minor (if not your kids then a friend) gaining access to a firearm is as great a concern as the need to ever actually use it in self-defense.
There is no reason the technology couldn't be made as reliable as the keyfob to start your car, and even if you don't have safety concerns about unauthorized use, consider how it would: 1) raise the street price and reduce armed petty thieves in time. 2) remove ammunition (pun intended) for the anti-gun lobbyists
A more universal little chip would be nice though, so you don't advertise with your "I'm carrying a concealed weapon" crappy looking wristwatch, lol!
The complexity of the system makes it unreliable (batteries in the watch, batteries in the gun)
But the system is simply dumb. Unless you carry a 22 at all times, now you have to put on a watch before you can shoot the gun. Or, worse yet, you have to wear a CRAPPY PLASTICKY WATCH. A 22 makes a crappy carry (might as well walk around with an airsoft gun). The whole combination just doesn't make sense. Crappy watch, crappy gun.
Who is this for? A wonnabe cop? Stupid parents that'll buy anything out of fear and ignorance?
This is NOT even a political debate. If you want your kids to know guns, TEACH THEM. Get them REAL guns, and teach them how dangerous they are. If you don't, don't buy them. But THIS piece of shit is a poor excuse for crappy parenting.
@stevetim I have heard about this concept before. It is not really being marketed as a self defense weapon. It is being marketed to police and military or any field were someone needs to carry a firearm. With this technology a cop cannot be shot with his own gun if it is wrestled away from him.
The device is aimed at gamers and TV watchers, generating a 3D image with use of a pair of 0.7-inch OLED panels, which each display separate images, doing away with the ghost imagery that often comes along with 3D displays.
