Not sure if you've heard, but
PMA is just around the corner. You know -- that camera show? At any rate,
Photo Rumors has a trio of new leaks to swoon over this fine evening, starting with black and white (saywha?) shots of
Olympus' supposedly forthcoming SP800 (or SP-800UZ, if we're talking specifics). The megazoom shooter is said to boast a 30x optical zoom, 14 megapixel sensor and image stabilization, though no further details have been let loose just let. Moving on, Fujifilm seems to have a whole gaggle of new cams planned for release this week, including a megazoom of its own and a whole host of point-and-shoot offerings. Finally, Hasselblad is expected to one-up the
H3D by introducing the H4D, which we fully suspect will have a 489 megapixel sensor and a price tag that far exceeds 93 percent of salaries here in America. Hit the links below for the goods, and hang tight -- PMA kicks off in earnest in just a few weeks.
This won't break 200 comments. Probably not even 100.
@GadgetGeezer
Let's start a new tradition............ 200th Poster!
@GadgetGeezer You, sir, make me sick.
Are you sure that you mean 489 mega pixel? 48.9 maybe?
@jptech
I think that 489 mega pixel was meant as sarcasm.
@joelaf
And, does it have Flash and Multitasking??? If not, then F A I L ! ! !
@jptech
It's a joke from a lazy writer. The H4D will come in 50MP and 60MP flavors. A little trip to their website would reveal this info.
@00iEye00
You sir, have done it!
You guys should do some fact checking
The HD4 is already being presold in 50 and 60 megapixel flavors
It was anounced in September
Delivery of these should begin in the next few weeks
The comment about exceeding 93% of salaries is almost correct although I think it may be a little low - more like 95% of most salaries
Hasselblad does have an exciting announcement coming but you have to wait until tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's not a product though, more likely a sevice, unless you are one of those middle mangement types who talks of paradigms and synergies as well as referring to services as products.
Sweet, I was waiting for an update for the UZ series. I guess they skipped the 600s and 700s and went straight to 800? The last one was the SP-590UZ.
@Nitesh The increase in megapixels makes me groan though, the current ones are already suffering from pixel cramming on a small sensor. If anything, cut it back to 10MP.
Will fuji finally release a compact camera with hd720p video, PLEAS
"30x optical zoom"? Hope that stabilization is very good!
John
The Olympus is already listed for $349.99 http://store.uniquephoto.com/e/index.php/olympus-sp-800-uz-digital-camera-titanium.html
I bought my Panasonic Lumix G1 (in red) nearly one year ago and I have yet to see a camera that could even slightly tempt me to change it.
In any case I must say I'm impressed by the low prices that Fuji manages to ask for their pretty decent superzoom models, no other maker even approaches that kind value for that kind of prices., an equivalent model from the likes of Canon, Nikon or Sony, etc would cost about the double.
I wonder I they can manage it.
It's about time superzooms got a bit superer.
Most of the time quality is more important but it would be nice to have the option of having a reasonably priced camera with a huge built in zoom. After all, entry level camcorders have had 70x+ for ages
not first.
30x Olympus, seriously? Are we headed for a optical zoom war now that the megapixel war is winding down? How about working on higher quality sensors before adding more zoom range to an already compromised lens.
