A 98.1MB "minor update"?
Ever heard of a patch, Apple?
@thetoad Oh wow you are never gonna stop are you? Did Steve Kidnap your firstborn child or something?
@thetoad
you are trolling like it's the end of the world
A minor iTunes update and here I'm downloading a complete 105 MB install for it. Wow. Can't they just patch the silly thing with a 2 MB download like everyone else?
Nice to see Apples is trying to sell me on Safari and MobleMe still. Unchecked every time.
I prefer it to patching because it installs a fresh copy of iTunes files; since iTunes tends to get slower over time (with a decent sized library). It does feels a little snappier already.
@usa1 Check them, Tools > Ignore Selected Updates.
C'mon, Toad, I hate Apple with a flaming passion, but I think you are taking it too far...

Who said I didn't want to read about Apple news? Jump to conclusions much? I don't wanna read about minuscule OS X updates as much as I don't want to read about minuscule Windows, Android, WebOS, etc updates. It's not the first time I've seen a news article about an OS X update, or even recently for that matter. I'm just saying, I don't find this newsworthy, especially with how much of Endgadget is being dedicated to Apple news recently.
Just installed it :D
Toad is a dumb bitch.
@thetoad
i really wish they would ban you......... and i dont even have a mac sigh too bad for you :(
@ROFL
I agree, WMP12+Shark Codecs is better than VLC...you actually get hardware acceleration...VLC hasn't been the same since they hit version 0.9 and that laughable GUI update.
Still find KMPlayer better though, doesn't desync 720P video when I'm in Power Saver mode.
@thetoad
what do you hope to accomplish by trolling, toad?
iTunes just keeps ballooning... Why the fuck do i have to use the same tool for organizing my books and music?
Whatever the size, I'm glad Apple fixed the syncing and performance issue that I had; iTunes (and OS X for that matter) would never remember that I have all my music on NAS box without me finding it in the finder first, now it remembers! Freaking finally.
I've had my 27-inch iMac since November and haven't had any issues with "flickering" or anything.
My iMac has worked fine from day 1 out of the box. No problems.
@Wesscoast Oh just what we need: more fuel in this fanboy fire.
This just show that Apple make its computers with quality.
I'm glad I deleted iTunes from my PC. What a resource hog.
@Virus Cannon
My laptop's fan started to get a bit loud today so I decided to close something. I picked iTunes. Five seconds after I closed it, silence.
@kenny goo Actually it is NOT an OS-X update, it is an update for the firmware of the display portion of the iMac 27". Which is an issue that effects every 27" imac owner. So it is not minor, nor is is OS-X related.
kthxbai
I lmao'ed when I saw the iMac update being 68 KB and the iTunes update being ~100MB.
iMac, shove a mobility 5870 in there feck! It's more power optimized (and still better)
What can 68 KB do ?
@thetoad
Engadget, as a loyal Windows person, I ask you:
PLEASE ban this asshole!!!
Is anyone else getting a constant Warning! message every time iTunes opens about the registry settings used by iTunes to import CDs or DVDs are missing?I really hoped this update would resolve that issue....
@wiegehts...
Registry = Windows... you have installed something that has probably taken ownership of the CD import. Happened to me with a crappy codec pack.
@thetoad
Your right....... it is the same reason why i never do a clean install with my windows computers, always just do upgrade over, so microsoft can simply patch over my unknown files........ I like my applications running slow cause im a pc! (sarcasm)
Is this the same 27" iMac that's currently winning the Desktop of the Year poll?
@DavidJ84 there's no other 27" iMac, so yes. (It thankfully doesn't occur for everyone.)
@(Unverified) The Engadget team don't post about the OS X security updates, you know.
sigh... my iphone is still screwed. hasn't synced anything with my smart playlists for a couple of months now
@HotDogWater
Just drag/dro... oh, wait.
@kenny goo
Didn't find it newsworthy? Then why did you click on it? Sick of people complaining when they have the choice to skip past.
I Think the point of this article is Apple are actaully doing something about it. They hear about a problem then actually fix it. Something they have control of as it's their hardware. Most of my problem with PC's have been conflicting hardware or crappy drivers.
MS don't exactly act quickly - Windows fontbook - They have only just upgraded it in windows 7. It's been the same since windows 95! Despite the hundreds of thousands that signed an online petition back in XP days
Windows wake from sleep then crash - still not fixed from XP.
And the complete mess that is the registry which is the basis of all that is screwed in windows. but something that they can never change.
I am not an apple fanboy. I have lots of mac and lots of PC's for my business. All I know is that EVERY single one of my cross platform apps run significantly better and smoother on OSX.
4th day in Saturday to be exact it started flicking on me shut down hasn't happend since but glad to know there is a new update kinda eases the stress of having to box everything back up
I purchased one at the end of Sept. 09 and had all kinds of flickering and snow at times. I returned it a few days later and the replacement has worked fine. I haven't installed either update and my computer stays on 24 / 7 without any problems. Don't want to install the firmware updates with out problems for fear of having some problems after the update.
