Logitech app turns your iPhone into wireless trackpad or keyboard
It ain't the first company to do it, but Logitech's new iPhone app is certainly one of the easiest to get into. Oh, and did we mention that it's completely free to download? Available now in the App Store, Touch Mouse transforms your handset into a wireless trackpad or keyboard, and thanks to its reliance on vanilla WiFi signals, you won't need any proprietary equipment to get it up and running. It's fully compatible with both Mac and PC platforms, and it's obviously a pretty fantastic way to control your HTPC without dragging a full-fledged keyboard / mouse into the living room. Hit the source link for more details, and be sure to let us know how it goes in comments once you give it a roll. [Thanks, Wulf]

The app is junk. I just tried it on my macbook, and the tracking is very unresponsive, and laggy (if thats a word). I will stick to air mouse pro $5.00, but it works really well.
Oh it works over bluetooth too (Touch Mouse) and (Air Mouse). Just thought t would let everyone know.
@wpb2 Does it work with the PS3 if it has BT support?
@fastm3driver
YOu have to install the server app on the computer, so i don't think it will work,. unless you can somehow install the server on a PS3 but I doubt it.
Just got it last night and really like it, great for controling the computer from accross the room while listening to music and doing homework. A bit jumpy sometimes but overall happy with the way it runs.
I did a search for "Touch Mouse" and it doesn't find it. I found Air Mouse.
What's up with that?
There is an App on iTunes called Snatch which does the same thing except you can import or create your own layouts for various apps that you'd like to control. It costs $4 but is full-featured and quite nice.
I reckon it will become a huge hit when the iPad ships because you could design some mind-blowing interfaces and workflows for audio production, video, photo-manipulation, etc.

@(Unverified) I was using the free version of Snatch, but wanted a keyboard - but not enough to pay for it. Hopefully this works as well.
There've been similar apps, but this is the smoothest free one that's been available yet. Win for logitech!
Man... I just paid for some other software.... DDDDuuuuuuuhhhhhhhoooooo......
I have been using air mouse for a while now, and I feel that its more of a complete app. But at the end of the day I guess you get what you pay for. Logitech does well for a free app.
Christ, welcome to last week. this and 1,000,000 other apps before it like Remotepad...
and it doesnt work on Tiger
@MVMNT Same issue. And they say it on their support forum, btw. But not anywhere else. I'm an Apple fan, but I don't like how you can't use products if you don't upgrade. Hell, they make applications for Windows Vista. C'mon!
Had it now for well over a week.
Loving it that's for sure :).
So much easier for my PC in the 50".
Apart from the right clicking and dragging to me takes a bit getting used to.
Synaptics developed this last year on Windows Mobile and uses Bluetooth
Don't get too excited fellow Canadians. The app is not available in Canada, as expected.
@blueskyv201 why the hell not!?!?! I'm glad I got myself a US itunes account.
im surprise to find that two-finger scro works on my mb pro (note that this comment was typed using the logitech app .)
Just tried it, works a charm. This will make loading up new programmes to watch on the iPlayer (tv on demand in the UK, bit like Hulu, but just for the BBC) whilst in bed much easier!
Pay an extra $2 and get Mobile Air Mouse, much better app and performs far better. No lag, tons more features, ect. The logitech version is just a re-branded version of remote pad, nothing special.
In response to everyone posting the fact that other companies already having a similar app: Please notice that the VERY BEGINNING of this article states: "It ain't the first company to do it..." So please refrain from your unneeded redundancy. Thanks.
Works great for me - easy setup, responsive mousing and keyboarding, super fun to use. Annoying that I cannot seem to get the RETURN key to work - anyone else?
Guys, forget this as just a phone app. Unisen makes an ipazzport that does this very simply, costs only about $30 and never leaves the family room like the iphone does as soon as you walk out of the front door. if you are big into your HTPC, the ipazzport is the most clever and simple way to go.
Obviously done before, but very easy and very effective not to mention FREE! NO reason to get up from the couch again to grab the mouse! Well done
No Pairing! t any one can control my screen
(any one in any wifi network i join)
This gives me an interesting yet slightly crazy idea: a game for a desktop that uses an iPhone or iPod Touch as a controller.
Not available in Canada, f this...
Ummm...why does the comments section suddenly look like Facebook, with replies to comments hidden?? Please tell me this is NOT a new default settting..
Man I always complain about the closed eco-system of iphone OS
but man they get the best friggin software. damn it. im going to have to swallow my pride and buy a iphone OS product. first that patriot drone now this. its irresistible.
any iphone users out there? should i buy a Ipad?
im using it right now and its awesome, even on my college wifi network its working with no lag or stutter.
give me Air Mouse better update + two finger scroll please :)
I'm personally a fan of Rowmote Pro.
There goes my app store idea :T
WinMo, Android had this type of thing for how long now? Seems like forever.
Wow... this is news because its from a big company? There have been programs on this for android for at least a year... i was playing with them when i first got it in 2008.
Where is the application... I can't find the appication for the computer... the logitic link is 404 error
I just downloaded the app it works ok for the first version.
I'm trying out this app right now the onscreen keyboard is pretty good although its a bit slow and buggy but it's okay
in no way is this suppose to replace my keyboard and mice but
I might have fun with this I think I'm going to prank my brother with it when he is using the computer it I'll freak him out thinking he's been hacked lol
im typinf this on the app . now i can have my iphones shitty virtual keyboard on a larger screen!
Awesome app, big security vulnerability.
There's no password protection, so if you run Logitech's server software on your machine, anyone on your network that has this app can control your computer. :-(
im using the logitech program right now to type this, the mouse is amazing & wonderful, while this keyboard could use some work as it is a little laggy. overall im impressed and will use it often :)
I got this app the day it came out and I love it ... its great !! so much better than alternatives ... but can get a lil glitchy if you have a lot of wireless activity on your network
I'm playing around with it now - it's pretty awesome.
What no authentication or software pairing!?
Listen up people, if you put this on your PC, anybody with an iPod Touch/iPhone on your network can control your PC! The only level of security offered is your WiFi key so its totally unsuitable in any shared environment, a total no-no for work or untrusted siblings!
A generous freebie for sure, but no thanks Logitech - it wouldn't be the first time they've completely shunned security in favour of form and function.
Well, I tried this last night, and I am SO pumped that I decided to wait on buying a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
Now I don't need that extra hardware sitting around in my living room to use my HTPC to its full capacity.
Thanks Logitech!
at first i was pissed that this was free, when i had already purchased AirMouse for $2.
not any more. the logitech app SUCKS!! so jumpy you can't possibly control the mouse with any accuracy. airmouse on the other hand, works like a charm!
Finally we can put the iphone to good use :)
I was wondering what the heck to do with one....lol
Please!! Would someone be able to dump the ipa for this thing and upload it to rapidshare or something so us canadians can get it.
