WiFi-detector T-shirt turned into a bumper sticker for the roadfaring nerd
We're not sure if an illuminated WiFi-detector window decal is more or less nerdy than the illuminated WiFi-detector T-shirt, but it's certainly cooler. The shirt costs about $20 now, and the mod to take the electroluminescent WiFi signal detector panel, add the necessary power converter and mount it all to the back your car of seems easy enough if you're the type to tinker. Now -- who's going to do this, set up a MiFi, and start charging fellow commuters for access? Video after the break.

@Solidstate89 Seriously. Someone somewhere likes a product you don't. This can not be allowed!
@Solidstate89
Why, because somebody somewhere knows more about Macs than you do?
Oh wait, lots of people know more about Macs than you do.
@Solidstate89, the unsettling thing is - that person probably have a right to vote...
@Solidstate89:
Thank you.
This looks kinda cool...
@Giga Looks like a waste of time and effort.
@Giga
Also, it looks like someone took a comment from the engadget article on the shirt literally:
http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/06/animated-wifi-detector-shirt-keeps-you-single-with-signal/comments/8010773/
@Giga
It also kind of looks like a photoshopped image, as if someone ran the clone tool all over the middle area of the window.
Also, the apple sticker and macgeek license plates too look photoshopped for engadget article approval.
@bladerunner Cna u tell by teh pixulsz>?
@Giga
The license plate says MACGEEK so I'm thinking this is Josh's ride...then again I would have thought the same had it said JOBSBOB.
@m1lt0n
And to think Topolsky called commenters "irresponsible"!
-jp
@Giga
I didn't think you could fit "homosexual" on a license plate!
@Giga People who put an apple sticker on their car, books, non-apple computers, desk, folders, doors,... should be shot in the knees.
definitely getting one.
@br0adcast you can get them here http://www.daftgadgets.com/wifi-green-tshirt.html They have 2 versions. The DJ light up is pretty cool too. Its the same idea but it light up to music beats.
They are on sale at think-geek for $19.

(Animated Decal is Removable (with hook and loop fasteners) for Easy Washing)
@br0adcast
Already have the T-Shirt! haha!!! Though, to be honest, it'd take all of about 2 seconds to rip the Wifi out of the t-shirt and stick it on a car with battery pack.
I think i'll through it on my messenger bag instead though :P Down with cars (unless they're electric)
Nice license plate.
Perfect just what I will add to my mini-itx car pc that I will have someday.
lol thats cool
that is pretty sweet...throw that on public transit!
totally illegal to drive around with in NY but totally geek chic
@LowSky
Why? I'm not from the US.
@LowSky It's blue, so people will probably mistake it as a police lightbar which is blue and red.
@ndrwme
People must be nearly blind there then.
@LowSky
While it is silly to think someone would actually mistake this for a police ID, it is probably against the law because of that. Really depends, though, on enforcement.
I was in court for a bad ticket once, and the guy in front of me was pulled over for a blinking blue LED on his car audio.
Strange world where that's something worth the court's time.
Why would you put an Apple sticker on your car? It's like you're asking for your car to get stolen.
Neat modification nonetheless.
@Tritium : An apple sticker makes a car steal worthy? Wah?
@Tritium
So they can tell people that they can afford a piece of sh8 computer that really costs no more than $200-$300 more and does nothing even close to better on a PC?
That and it lets everyone know the person who drives that car is a douche bag.
@thetoad You have a serious problem, man. I mean, something must be really bothering you.
@thetoad
omg bestfriend is that you?
perfect applique for a doucebag mobile btw
@Tritium My problem is that Elements are totally opposite of what a real Machead would drive. The Element is values form over function, as said by Honda themselves. On the other hand, Apple products don't give a damn about function.
@Tritium I have an Apple sticker on my car and the MacBook Pro that I carry in it is worth more than the car, I would be happy if someone would steal my car then I would have a reason to get a newer one.
@ndrwme
Right, that's why iPhones are so popular. Because they don't have any FUNCTION.
Rampant stupidity never ceases here, does it?
@thetoad Yup a 200-300$ laptop. Cause your gonna see the same exact specs of a macbook in a notebook. Yea ok. Only a douche is naive enough to believe that.
@cabela
I'm pretty sure that the Macbook will have the same specs as a notebook, seeing as it is one.
@Tritium Forget what I said earlier, since I said it backwards.
Element = Function > Form
Apple = Form > Function
@Jack, same as with rampant fanboyism that you most accurately represent.
Much cooler is the rotten apple detector right next to it!
Apple free Engadget must not be working.
@Smorkiepol9 ...and you must of mistaken this for the humor free Engadget
@TacticalTimbo Nope, still shows up on humor free Engadget.
http://www.engadget.com/exclude/humor/
@Smorkiepol9
Well there you go, its the humour free Engadget that isn't working. Just be patient while its down and have a laugh at the failings of this world...oh wait.
@TacticalTimbo
It was a joke man, lighten up. Seriously, people these days get so worked up over nothing. If you're hating on me because of the Apple comment, I was making a joke, and I in fact really enjoy Apple products.
@Smorkiepol9
lol no worries, I saw this completely the other way around and btw I'm happy as larry. My first comment above yours might explain how the confusion started, and I don't mind a bit of Apple gear myself.
@TacticalTimbo
Haha,ok then, we're cool?
@TacticalTimbo It's 'must have' not 'must of' you tardbucket, stop butchering the English language.
@Koofteh
Mate this is a blog site, not an English exam. Anyway, have you seen standard of grammer coming from some bloggers on this site, you can't even understand what their trying to impart yet you pick up on that!? What a petty p***k you are indeed! you're probably not even English anyway, so go take you color, aluminum and any other word you can't spell and shove it up your mum's arse!
It's totally useless but it's cool in a geeky way so I WANT IT!
@AirieFenix -- did you mean to post this in one of the iPad threads?
