Without a touchscreen, the kinds of apps will be very simple. Something like a chess game will be awkward if the user needs to pan around with the dpad. It'll be interesting to see what developers come up with.

Very true. Looks like a crossword app will become commonplace with the occasional 'snake' like game...

No more awkward than a chess game for any console system, though of course, a touchscreen version would be better.
