Yinlips busts out a 6-inch, E Ink-boasting e-reader
Yinlips is jumping on the e-reader bandwagon with a 6-inch, touchscreen E Ink reader all its own. While we don't have full specs for this think-looking little guy yet, we do know that it supports a wide array of file formats, supposedly gets around 20 hours of battery life, and that it's got an FM radio with recording functions. There's no word on pricing, other specs, or even the official name of this product yet (possibly just 'E-Book'?), so make your suggestions in the comments, and we'll try to get word to Yinlips for you.

I think we can all agree that this company actually copied the iPad
@yulebellow
Behold, the middle-middle ground between iPad and iPod
@yulebellow Unfortunately, despite my hatred of the fanboys who call everything a rip-off of an Apple product...I must agree with you.
@yulebellow
That looks NOTHING like the iPad!!!
@yulebellow No, the button on this one is an outie
@yulebellow
They made the "real" iPad.
@yulebellow
I suspect some Chinese manufacturing plant has about 100 million of this chassis laying around, waiting for someone to throw internals at it. It worked that way in lighting when I was in that field.
More like iBook amirite? Oh wait, there already was a product called iBook... guess we wouldn't want to make it THAT obvious....
@Cence
Apple should have made this!
Imagine a e-ink reader with a System7-ish look and feel.
I would seriously buy one of those.
@yulebellow
How can you call it an iPad copy...when it has an E-Ink screen, and only reads books?! Now, I'm no fanboy but, I'd be disappointed if someone gave me this and called it an iPad.
I smell a law suit on the horizon.
@ryankage
there are no lawsuits in China
@ryankage
lawsuit? heres an ipad for free
@Acey ah ya forgot about that lol
iKirf?
iKnockOff
@MizuInOz
So do I... but I don't run around telling people about it on gadget websites...
@geekthree
Actually, you just did.
iPad Nano, or iPad air
God damn it. Not another Yinlips article.
Wait until Yinlips fanboys realize they can't watch Hulu on this device.
@(Unverified) I see what U did there.
And I lol'd :P
Definitely much too close to the looks of the iPod, iPad, iPhone for comfort I think.
@absolutejustin, it's obviously a diamond and not a square for the bottom button. I'm sure that clearly makes them look different enough.
@Templarian Almost.
my vote is for LipReader
If there was ever name worse than the iPad... YinLips would be it.
Yeah, that's a horrible name for a company (probably an unfortunate translation to english)... or a great one depending on how much asian p0rn you plan to use the product for
Yinlips = a horrible transliteration of the companies name in Chinese. If they copied the sounds directly from 英利普 it would be "Ying li pu", which I guess they understood wouldn't sound too great in English: "Did you see my new yinglipu e-book?!" although Yinlips isn't really much better.
I love the design!
@TechGuru
Ever tried an iPad then?
it has to be a clone of some philips device as the name yinlips suggests
If it didn't have the chromed bezel and if the borders were slimmer, it could've actually worked.
YinLips, I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had the best e-book reader
@joelaf The yinlips swift.
Isn't 20 hours of battery life rather low for an e-ink device?
So what about the fact that it completely copied the iPad? :)
Wow... how many ... "pads" have we seen announced this past month? The sheer number of companies wanting to ride the apple product wave is incredible! Which will survive?
Usually eInk readers have battery lives of 20 _days_ or more (without wireless stuff) - how did Yinlips manage to achieve a mere 20 hours??
Is it $100 yet?
Another iPad wannabe why is it some Asian companies always have to copy their design from APPLE, just because it looks like a iPad doesn't mean its going to sell for them.
They should name it e-lips. Ilike the sound of
that. Say it. E-lips.
