HTC Incredible caught on video rocking Snapdragon, Android 2.1 with Sense UI, and Verizon bands
The verdict's still out on whether or not it'll live up to its namesake, but the HTC Incredible is now officially out in the wild and surfing on Verizon's frequencies. Pocketnow managed to obtain a few details along with a batch of leaked photos and video, so here's what we're being told: Snapdragon processor, Android 2.1 with Sense UI, 256MB of RAM, optical mouse pointer, and dual LED flash for the camera. The screen's about 3.5 or 3.7 inches, WVGA resolution and possibly AMOLED. Traditionally shaky video reveal after the break.

Incredible, but the Pre Plus and HD2 have way more RAM
@JeremyBenthem
Not incredible! Must have 4.3" screen!!!! >:(
@JeremyBenthem so does the nexus one.....
@Almo
Hot as hell bro.
PRAISE THE LORD! They almost managed to hide away those awful android default icons bottom of screen!
Very nice! Finally.
And they had to screw it up by using the tackiest back cover ever!
Thanks HTC!
@JeremyBenthem why 'jeremy bentham'?
ucl student? lol
@Almo ya i completely agree with you. After the HD2 came out even though i dislike windows mobile. I love the design. and the screen changed my expectaion when it comes to phone.
so give me inch screen or give me death. ^_^
@JeremyBenthem ...it's running Android.
@doutorpiranha
You must be thinking of the old Android icons. The icons were all redone for 2.0. If you look at the right pic, it's actually showing at least 2 default icons (Market and Maps).
Look at the Nexus One page and you'll see how the new icons look (http://www.google.com/phone/?locale=en_US&s7e=)
@Almo - Exactly! And a big MEHHHHH to old azz 90's CDMA tech!!
@level67 Yeah, I'm a bit confused, why would you get this instead of the Nexus One?
@iofthestorm cause you like verizon's coverage or one half of your head is not working
@JeremyBenthem
Didnt htc learn about designs? even after working with google for nexusone.. see that back cover..yuck!!!
@iofthestorm maybe price. O_O only reason, and very possible.
Big deal. 2.1 has been around for so long now on other phones, this should have been released ages ago. When something new gets released I might then get excited. We have the Motorola Droid and Nexus one with the latest Android OS, the only thing from HTC now that will interest me is Hardware (Annoyed tired of waiting HTC Hero owner STILL on 1.5)
@doutorpiranha haha ugly, I'm trying to figure out to get them on the droid
@Almo Hotness.. Oups for the backplate, although I love the glossy finish and the glare on the amoled display is impressive. Somehow this reminds me of Hero on steroids: http://bit.ly/the-htc-hero-and-incredible-details
CDMA is more modern and effective than GSM, dolt.
Yikes, the backplate looks incredibly tacky.
@tmfan yeah the phone looks great but that back plate kind of kills it for me.
@tmfan
Could just be the prototype or demo unit. Might not ship like that.
@tmfan
With a black backplate I think it will barely be noticeable, and might add some extra function as it appears that the speaker won't be covered when it's resting on a surface.
@tmfan I agree, but deep down I kinda like it!
@tmfan Yeah, in its current cosmetic form, it's definitely case-worthy.
@tmfan
...and someone needs to seriously smack the head of the person who comes up with the names, "Hero" "Bravo" "Incredible"...what next "Bombastic!"
@tmfan thats ridiculous. how often does one look at the back of their phone? well unless they are ADD or a moron.
@Almo Agreed, almost certainly a pre-production engineering prototype. HTC has, IMHO, produced consistently attractive devices.
@OneOfOne
When you show your new phone off, nine times out of ten, people will look at the phone from all angles. I'd much rather have a phone with a classy but interesting looking back.
This is neither.
@tmfan Agreed. But cmon, everything else is so functional!
@tmfan
it looks like it would match jawas robes in star wars though!
@tmfan
yea true, but who knows... maybe they would give the option of different back plate colors......
@OneOfOne
um, not often, but i only see the back of your phone every time you're on it.
geez, that's like saying "how often do you look at the back of your laptop screen bezel?" well i would prefer it not to look ridiculously lame since that's the only part everyone else sees.
@tmfan
The back of this thing looks incredibly ugly, ffs...why won't HTC listen to the consumer?? HD2 with Android, that's all we want...
Who needs the Nexus One? This thing is a beast.
@ScienceProUSAcom
Hmm not as much RAM as the Nexus, and Sense could sure use it. I wonder why not? I would expect at leat 384 or 448 MB on this. But I suppose it slots in below the Nexus (although it has the benefit of Sense) so they had to seperate it somehow.
Man, so many choices. Wait for Win7 mobile phone or HD2 and maybe a Nexus (OLED!). I can't make up my mind. I just hate how my iphone doesn't support flash and the browser is slower than these new phone. Hopefully this phone get a real review/comparison b4 my iphone contract expires.
@ScienceProUSAcom
It has literally HALF the ram that the Nexus One has, which is a big dealbreaker for me. Having using Android phones since the day the G1 came out, I feel like piling a ton of ram into these things is at least as important as putting in a fast processor.
It's extremely annoying when your home screen gets unloaded from memory and you have to wait for it to reload when all you did was visit a couple of websites. That happens all the time on the G1, and it has 197mb of ram which is pretty close to what this thing has.
@cdf74dc9
I don't know what iPhone you are talking about, but my 3GS browser is smokin fast. Does the Nexus one actually beat a 3GS?
@Chefgon
once again, repeating what others said, this is a pre-production model, and the amount of RAM might change... or even like the HD2, which had a secret 120mb more of RAM
@looselycoupled
iPhone 3GS has a 500mhz cortex a8, while nexus one has 1ghz cortex a8... The only way iphone can beat nexus one in browsing speed is...
a. ton of programs running on the nexus one (something iphone can't even dream of doing)
b. crappy third party browser on the nexus one (i hear iphone can only use one browser)
c. crappy cell signal (i hear both att and tmobile can suck)
d. all or any of the above.
In fact, I can't think of a single thing iphone can beat the nexus one in... Now iphone UI is smoother, but that's only because nexus one is multi tasking different apps and widgets. there are more iphone apps, but they are limited in what they can do because of apple's restrictions so they aren't not as functional or robust as android apps...
That's a pretty ugly color scheme...
The mullet of mobile phones. Business in the front, WTF in the back.
@supremehustle
I think a mullet is WTF all around.
@supremehustle Awesome metaphor
@supremehustle
While you comment was quite funny, this isn't about that at all.
I'm quite in love with your avatar picture.
@supremehustle
i don't find this amusing...at all
-.-
@supremehustle : Supernatural, right? :)
Sense UI and Android combined! Can we get this on the HD2 please?
@DanMan
Whaaat. SenseUI launched on the Hero, an ANDROID phone, before TouchFLO 3D was rebranded as SenseUI.
@DanMan
Give me stock Android 2.1 over this anytime. Sense UI was good to replace the ugly Android 1.5, but for the version that shipped with the Nexus One, it is far more aesthetically superior to Sense UI.
