So cool. I love these videos.
@Luffy cool indeed, I like the Nexus One a little more now, just a little.
@Luffy I'm actually not very satisfied with these videos, I think they should be more technical.
@Luffy I don't see them testing 3G connectivity.
@Luffy Me too. I think Google actually has had a better "cool factor" than Apple lately.. I'm seriously thinking about switching to Android for my next phone.
@Luffy So thats what the HTC sweat shops look like... very nice.
Well done Engadget, these two videos were out when you posted the last one
@mikethebigo
I think Google is not really going for the "cool factor" but instead more of a "sweet/cute factor". They're really trying to make the company more human, friendly and just all around "we care for you" sorta style and doing a great job of it too.
Apple should do one of these showing how Steve Jobs personally hand carves each iPhone from a solid block of awesome and then breathes life (and the OS) into it before sending them out to retailers on gilded winged ponies.
Ok, I got a little carried away at the end there.
@Luffy and HTC stll use xp. Second video 1.68
@Luffy Seeing how the Nexus Phone began is just amazing. From the moment it was conceptualize, until it hits our doorstep. There's still some questions that lingers, on how does the nexus phone really looked like from the beginning. Surely these series of vids are very informative. @Steve2000
lol that's hilarious "single block of awesome". Nice!
Did anyone catch the "Sucker" button @ 2:10. wonder what that button does....
I weep at the thought of a Nexus One with Android 1.5... *shudder*
@OsoOto
As do I, it hurts me deep,, I need a moment..... excuse me. -_-
@OsoOto
I know this is slightly off topic, but has anyone else with a Nexus One had some severe battery issues since the recent multitouch update? I charged my phone all last night, and literally barely used it today...and it's dead. From 100% to 0% in about 10 hours with little usage. Anyone? Thanks for any help/advice.
@Mr Oos
I weep for the guy that's in charge of the drop test. All day long he picks up the phone just to drop it again...
The Compression Test and the Bend Test made me wince.
Stop being so mean to those beautiful gadgets!
@Chefgon These tests are pretty mild compared to what Nokia do to their phones
http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/07/video-nokias-product-testing-labs-in-3-minutes-42-seconds/
@Jai
I wonder how apple do their tests, it seems as one drop with the iphone and boom... there goes the screen...
@Chefgon
I wanted to see one break, not because I am anit-Nokia but because I simply like to see things break.
@Acey
Well, they demo the iPhone screen by inviting you to scratch your key against it. Dunno about body rigidity. I have dropped mine a few times, no scratch or cracks yet...
Wait, I take that back. Just discovered a major crack through the center of backside of the connector port, where you expect it to be weakest... Time to put that case back on... *weep*
@Jai just cause they are not showing it, doesn't mean it doesn't get tested
@Chefgon
**More Fanuc Robots** in these videos, damn things pop up everywhere.
M16iB again I think
@level67 thats true, but in the limited time I'm guessing they showed the most impressive tests.
@Acey one of my mates killed his iphone screen by dropping it less than 1m (3 feet) on to carpet! But secretly, i think most apple fans are actually happy when their gadgets break. Because then they can buy the latest model...
@Acey I thought the same thing, until last night my niece (what was I thinking...) dropped my iphone from the counter she was sitting at (onto a wood floor) and not a minute later dropped it again off the nearby table (not quite as high). I picked it up fully expecting a cracked screen, but nope (it even landed screen down the second time).
where are vids 2 and 1?
This is standard testing for all companies but I really like these videos and it makes me want a nexus one even more.
@MoonWalkerCTE
You can see all the Nexus One's videos here:

@EliteGeek ty :)
yea...they are cool....but why ?? why is google doing this ???
@njsrikar To educate people about their company and how they create them?
@njsrikar Because they can
@njsrikar
So people realize how much work was actually put into this phone, thereby increasing perceived value.
@njsrikar yes....you and me who are into gadgets and gizmos...we will be interested in those videos. But for all the others ...they dont really give a damn.
I somehow do not understand what Google is going to gain from this on the large scale and am sure, Google doesnt do anything without a sound 'financial' reason.
@njsrikar Look, dude. They're just videos made for people curious on what happens to the Nexus One before it's sold. Lighten up.
My baby! Nooo!
im starting to like this phone more and more as i watch these videos. interesting stuff for one sick phone.
@Tristan88888888: I'm thinking Nexus One with the HTC Incredible ROM, to get some of that Sense UI goodness.
The testing one makes me sad.
How about the Ugly test? I'm sure they missed that out.
@matarua
The only thing ugly about this picture is the use of flash. Good thing I'm using HTML5.
@matarua I think you've missed the point of the video's
@matarua It wouldn't be a fair grade, looks are subjective.
@Branhower yep they sure are, and it comes down to taste. The power of this device is it's Android OS and that it is Googles own handset, I think that positions it above a lot of the other very similar devices out there.
I just think it's miles behind in the industrial design in regards to creativity and innovation on an aesthetic level. Obviously it's built well :)
@matarua
Just a question about what you feel is miles ahead of the N1?
@matarua
As it turns out I know allot of people who have missed the ugly test. Guess god doesn't test for that either? :)
@ljm I have an iPhone 3Gs, which is much more 'me' aesthetically and operating system wise is still ahead of Android at this point. I don't want to bring the ugly stick out again for fear of reprisal lol
However, I almost do not see the N1 is in the same space. It looks like a business offering to me. The palm pre is going to be the main competitor I would guess, can't get the pre in my country however so I am only going on what I have seen online.
Looks wise the HTC HD2, Hero & Touch Diamond 2 are all nice. Hey I just don't like the dated look of the N1.
I'm no Apple fan boy either, I think the Zune HD is a nice piece of industrial design, get Android on there with some phone internals and that would be mean! (ducks)
@Thor e haha, true, good call :)
@matarua
Look obviously are subjective. I am not keen on the pre's looks at all (although I know most people love its looks) and have always (with the exception of a few models e.g. the G1) liked HTCs business-like looks.
I think that a phone being a little understated (as the N1 is) is better than it trying too hard to look cool. I can't stand glossy black plastic, glossy white plastic, faux-chrome bezels, large logos etc. That's just my taste though. I am sure almost everyone looks for different things, but I reckon google got it about right - business on the outside, party on the inside.
That's awesome :)
