GeeksPhone One lands in France for a hands-on
Plenty of other Android phones have come and gone since the GeeksPhone One was announced way back in July of last year, but the phone is now finally available in Europe, and the folks at Android France have managed to get their hands on what seems to be one of the first ones. Unfortunately, the device is looking a tad less polished than some of the earlier shots we've seen suggested, and the device's specs don't seem to have seen any upgrades during its prolonged launch (definitely no Snapdragon here). There's also not much in the way of actual impressions of the phone just yet (Android France is promising a full review), but there are plenty of pictures to keep you busy in the meantime at the link below.

Looks good, but why is the space bar on the left like that? Should be in the center. All I want in number Two is Snapdragon, AMOLED capacitive multi touch screen, at least 16GB internal storage and micro sd card slot, and about a 1gb rom/ram! That's all I'm asking for lol.
@ryankage i'm hoping the space bar numerical key positioning are do to it being French but i could be entirely wrong.
@kojo87 lol No , it has nothing to do with being French. The keyboard layout is what should differ au lieu of QWERTY would be AZERTY
@TikiTeko good call. well then that is a pretty dumb layout.
Why I'd buy:
Cheaper than other Androids
Nice looks
Android
Dislike my Omnia i900v
Why I wont buy:
No Snapdragon
Obviously the spec
Is it resistive or capacitive?
@Skate It Dont Spray It
I believe Resistive, unfortunately.
@ryankage and with that news im out ^^
I cant get back into resistive for phones now that ive gotten used to the ipod touch
@ryankage
a 2010 resistive touch android phone???? WTF?!?!
@Skate It Dont Spray It
"Display: 3.2” WQVGA Fujitsu MVA hybrid-resistive touchscreen"
Lameee.
Branding fail. At least if they want to gain mass market appeal anyways.
Looks exactly like my Touch Pro 2...
@Qmeli907
Hell no! Looks exactly like my Samsung Glyde!

(Only with a little more chrome and an extra row on the keyboard...)
In my humble opinion, too little too late. Bad timing. We are in the Snapdragon era. This phone should have been released last year by Summer to be an stellar one.
I think real geeks, like me, are wanting to have their Dragon Snapped.
Not very geeky - they remembered to map / and ~, but not > . D'oh.
The only reason I kept tabs on this was the DVB-T integration, but now its gone and I'm left sadface
I'm sorry, but that's the Commtiva Z1 which has been on sale in Taiwan for a good few months now http://mobileandnotebook.com/reviews/smartphones/commtiva-z1-budget-android-smartphone-hands-on
This phone's company is from Spain, although the phone's components, as all of the other phones in the world, are from somewhere in Asia...
To see more of it, have a look here, if you want:

The phone is 275€, SIM free, which is not a bad price anyway for all it comes with, I'm waiting for mine to arrive, to UK :)
