Hello Rewind transforms old shirts into swank laptop sleeves, helps humanity
Look, we've got no qualms with the litany of existing laptop sleeves on the market today. Many are fine, fine pieces of kit. But if you're in the market for something to cover up your shiny new 13-, 15- or 17-inch machine, you owe it to yourself (and your fellow Earthlings) to check out what Hello Rewind is offering. Put simply, this company accepts your order for a new sleeve, sends you a pre-paid envelope, awaits the arrival of your used tee of choice, and then mails you a soft, personalized wrapping for your precious workhorse. During the process, the outfit uses the proceeds to fight sex trafficking and assist women that were formerly sex trafficked in New York City, which is just about as noble a mission as we can think of. Be sure to give the source link a visit if you're interested, where each sleeve can be procured for $49 with free shipping on both ends.

Great cause...I just can't believe somebody decided they didn't want to wear that awesome cereal all-stars shirt, it does make a bad arse sleeve though!
@ljm Agreed, great cause and best of luck.
i'm all for good causes, but when it comes to my laptop, i prefer to have something that'll actually protect it.
@haan it is protected! we add in an inner layer of batting and an inner felt liner, so it's more protected than most neoprene sleeves.
@hellorewind
if your stitching/velcro is strong and reliable. then i'm in!
@haan It's all tightly sewn in, and we've been using our prototypes for months. No broken laptops or sad laptopless people!
Very cool.
By swank....you mean tacky, right?
I love the cause, but I'm paying $49 for something that I already provide most of the materials for?
@jrm125
I love knowing that my vote helps downrank to oblivion sometimes!
Hmmm?
Looks rather "GHETTO' from my vantage point...
@DaHarder
... regardless, it's still a decent cause.
@DaHarder
So you have a vantage place with a vantage view point in the ghetto?
Work hard and study a lot and you can hope to get out of it bro: George Bush said that.
@Plexus
Look around - The Ghetto is everywhere in America these days.
(Unless you're walking around with blinders on)
agreed, $49 seems a bit steep
@Anderfrank
@Anderfrank Really?? For a Custom item where the proceeds go to charity? Wow, I can't imagine the laptop you're rocking: "well, I really like the looks of the Aspire one, but $199 seems a bit steep!"
Some people have no appreciation.
Did you try to "negotiate" with the Kia dealer on your new Rio??
My brown side is taking over, I could make this at home for free.
@Nitesh great creative spirit! :)
Yeah
Brilliant idea (I wonder if I still have my "Global Hypercolor" t-shirt?) and for all the $49 haters - how much is your time worth? (I seriously doubt it's free, plus it includes P&P and other materials.) For most professionals out there it'd cost more to DIY (your time making it against what you could earn).
Don't be distorted by seeing it as cheap labour in sweat-shops! (quality costs)
Sadly I've a small puddle separating me from NYC so the cost of this (all in) would start to be about the same as what I'd earn. :-(
@Sheldon Exactly. This is pretty awesome to me and well worth the $49 to have something personalized that I will use to carry around my laptop.
Very cool! A little steep, but still awesome. I plan to send in my Legend of Zelda tshirt I got from thinkgeek.com and have it made into a sleeve.
Can anyone from Hello Rewind (I see your comments to other people) tell me if its possible to tell you which part of the shirt to use? On mine there is a large crest of hyrule in the middle and that is the part I want to be used for the sleeve.
@ddmeightball we use the front of your t-shirt for the back of the sleeve (the part that doesn't have the flap) and center it in the middle. if you want something specific cut out or aligned, you can tell us in the special instructions and we'll make sure to do it!
Title says old shirts, body says envelope is for unused tee. I am confused. I understand if they don't want to handle some BO (I wouldn't) but which is it?
@donsan thanks for the catch! we prefer old, used t-shirts, as new shirts can be worn :)
@hellorewind
Ah. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and help some people doing it. Good job!
helps humanity...kills tigers.
@ThisIsT Haha great! And if you're a small guy, an Ipod Nano sock! :-p
By the headline I thought this was about recycling "old shirts," but the want your "unused" tee shirts. Who keeps old, unused shirts around?
@Ccmd I think they wrote it incorrectly. As I said to @donsan, we prefer old, used t-shirts instead of brand new ones -- you should wear the new ones! Our goal is to use up those t-shirts you have lying around that HAVE been worn in the past. :)
Great idea!
