No-name Mini USB pico projector now the cheapest you can buy
It was fun while it lasted, but Sanwa's once $119 pico projector is now selling for no less than $179, which means that it's no longer able to hold the prestigious title of "world's cheapest pico projector." As far as we can tell, that honor now belongs to this impressively boxy model known only as the "Mini USB 2.0 LED Projector w/Tripod," which is now available at various online retailers for $159.99. Specs are as basic as can be, of course -- but, hey, it comes with a tripod.

Why?
@LCDBox
Because they're not counting the EyeClops toy projector they sell at Walmart for $100. At one point they had it on sale for $80. If these pico projectors are made to be of such low quality why shouldn't we include the ones they price low to be sold as toy?
@LCDBox
The Sanwa can't do video! Why are we still considering it a pico projector!
"Other products by Generic"
Thats from the amazon purchasing page haha
If you buy 2 of them will it double your resolution?......... ... ... .
@thfcme You'd need 4 unless you're happy doubling it only on 1 axis.
@CRA1G Widescreen ftw
... looks like a probe droid from the Hoth system.
Were there any rebel scum on the planet this one went to?
Now I can get my micro-projecting on for less than $200!
@mitchrockz
With all the free pr0n on the internetz, I would think you could get that on for a lot cheaper.
Please tell me what I need this for. I can let people gradually accept that I'm a nerd...why do I have to spend $159 to demonstrate that I am?
Christ a TV set from the 60's probably hate a higher resolution than this POS.
@Jaylittles531
But can you throw that TV set in your bag and take in on a trip? Now, for all I know this thing is totally weak, but I still like the direction they're going in. Mini projectors ftw!
@Mr Oos
Until I get my hands on one I will not be impressed by these little things. They all looks cheap and poorly designed, but frankly I dont have the extra money to waste on something that I dont know will work.
Can I use this as an external screen? And is the resolution good enough to, say, watch a movie on it?
@blinddance
You can totally watch a movie on it, it's just not going to be the most impressive movie watching experience you've ever had. And you're definitely going to need to be in a very dark, quiet place...which sounds just about like home for most of us Engadget commenters ;)
What about OS X support?
I wonder if you can use more then one and span across the for a larger desktop
$160 still doesn't sound very affordable. I'll wait until dealextreme has one for $20 :)
The Shack has 640x480 micro projector for $99.
@Jaylittles531
actually they wouldint. even a tv from 10 years ago didint have this resolution. its 480p, tube tv's where 480i and a truly interlaced screen so they had 240 lines of resolution. it wasint till EDTV's came out that tv's started to have 480 lines of vertical resolution. (there might of been some cathode ray tv's with 480 lines of resolution)
