How many oranges does it take to charge an Apple? (video)
We've seen lemons power a digital clock, and we've seen an Orange tent energize a gaggle of Apples. But have you ever wondered how many oranges it would take to charge just a single Apple? Name games aside, we have to hand it to Imperial Leisure, the company that executed a new iPhone-centered advertisement aimed at raising awareness for Jaffa oranges. We won't spoil the whole thing for you, but we will say that you'll be far hungrier after watching than you are right now. Video's past the break, per usual.

Did anyone else notice that the ipod isn't actually charging in the video?
@urza9814
Uhm yeah it is. Or the battery wouldn't be up like that
@urza9814
There was no iPod in the video.
@gletob
When I plug my iPod touch in to any dock it shows the battery. When it's actually charging it shows the lighting bolt icon over the battery and the battery icon filling up.
@urza9814 The lightning bolt on the battery at the end says otherwise...
@Ignotus
None. They will convince themselves that the flashlight app is a better light bulb than the real light bulb.
That Many oranges and that much time to charge a iPhone/iPod? Sorry buy I'd rather just plug my phone to it's charger. By the time the phone finishes charging, you'd probably just be finished cutting all those oranges.
Cool video. Thanks for posting Engadget.

@gollu Hey hypocrite, don't feed the fire.
Jaffa Kree!
@MJCS Kneel before your god, Apophis! Uh, Steve Jobs!
@MJCS Indeed
Ok, I understand the video is fun and all, but wouldn't it have been easier, and a lot less wasteful, to measure the electrical output of a small number of oranges, and just use simple mathematics to find out how many more oranges would bee needed to accomplish the charging of an iPhone?
@LAY
Uhm... yes... it also would have been much easier to run to the store, get a charger and charge the iPhone...
And you are right, this video would have captured exactly as much interest if it opened up on that girl sitting at a desk with a multimeter and a calculator... and she was topless.
What a waste of oranges...
How much carbon did this use?
@ultrakomm i was going to say you can almost see it dripping off the orange
and formetopoopon, israel and Judaism are not the same thing despite what you may have been brainwashed to believe, the fact that you are highly ranked just goes the show that Israel is good at spending the 4 billion in aid from the US each year for public relations
what im not sure about is the display time of the charge status at the end prolonged? it is lit for longer than usual.
2380 orange slices, but how many oranges is that?
@spade

Wouldn't it take less lemons to do that same job?
Jaffa Kree!
nice picture
Wow what an incredibly good use of food which millions of people are starving from lack of.
crazy stuff lol
Way to go pretty lady! Dulling that nice expensive forged chef's knife by cutting all those oranges on granite! No wonder you had to hone it before you started! :oP
@antiflag15 nah their PR is rubbish, their military is pretty tops now though. I think you'll find the solution to the mystery of lowest ranking/highest ranking is that one was off tech topic and the other was pointing this out, no Zionist propaganda here, move along.
Why did they have to ut the oranges into slices? Wouldn't it be easier just to stick the wires into a whole orange..
i guess i know what i'll be doing tonight!
What's Teal'c's favorite fruit?
Jaffa oranges.
Proving that fruits work for anything else then being eaten :)
who cares engadget ?? isnt there something more important you can report about... get tired of the relentless apple coverage !!!
Or 595 WHOLE oranges.
That was brilliant.
Could have fed some kids in Haiti.
umm i wonder how many lemons does it take to charge an iphone?
