Remember Bioloid? How
could you forget, right? Well, we had the pleasure of meeting his more expensive brother and
Avatar-inspired-sister Bioloid Premium at the New York Toy Fair. Meant for hobbyist robot builders, the kit comes with everything you need to build and program the plastic and metal humanoid, including Robotis'
AX-12 servo actuator and
'C' programming software. But getting Bioloid to walk, run and dance to Lady Gaga is going to cost ya a whopping $1,199. That seems like a lot of dough for us non-robot builders, but this guy's heartwarming demeanor and balancing act almost has us forking it over. You'll see what we mean in the video just past the break.
I feel like I'd lose some teeth if I ever bought on of those...
if only everything could dance to lady gaga
$1200 for a robot that takes 2 steps and falls over?
@formetopoopon
It doesn't even look cool...
Noooooot worth it.
I think it's pretty cool that it comes with the programming language for those in the know-how to take advantage of... I tell you, if this thing could be programed to get me a drink out of the fridge, then the future is now!
WINDOWS 7 SERIES!!!!
So u pay $1200 for a robot ? that's where they get d funding for global annihilation...
$1,199 of FAIL. She it keeps saving it from falling over.
For $1,200 i can get a lot of shrooms that will give me the ability to move like a robot to the sound of Michael Jackson.
Seems no better than the robots from the 1980s
$1,199?
I wouldn't buy it for $199.
Man i love technology..... ^_^
I want to build my own bots. i am going to start with lego mind storms. and eventually work my way up to robots and autonomous uav's and such.
I would have gone mad by now is i was cut off from technological news & intelligent conversation with my fellow genius engadget commenter's. Its hard even border line impossible for me to find someone in real life that cares or knows a lick about this kinda stuff. that why i love this site.
Engadget. I heart you. ^_^
Well, obviously this is for the hardcore robot builders...I think the price is similar to any other high class robot in that size that its sold in Japan...if you don't want it to fall, you have to find a clever code and program its moves from the start. It doesn't seem to be for amateurs, but mostly for fans and developers...
