Jabra Clipper stereo Bluetooth headset gets official
Well, it just wouldn't be MWC without a few Bluetooth headsets to go along with the new phones now, would it? Thankfully, Jabra has come through with its new Clipper headset which, like Jabra's BT3030, packs a standard 3.5mm jack to let you pair it with your own headphones (although Jabra also supplies a pair of its own noise-canceling buds). Otherwise, you'll get some full, discreetly hidden controls on the clip itself, and a promised six hours of talk time and eight days of standby. No official word of a North America release just yet, but this one is expected to run £39 in the UK (or about $60).

Or Jar Jar; I can't quite tell...
Hey Engadget, Thanks for not being forgetful about the rest of the tech world when a major product comes out. It seems like you've learned your lesson from the apple fiasco.
Or maybe you all (but mainly toplotskii) are full of Shite.
Exactly the kind of Bluetooth device I was looking for. Will pair it with my Shure headphones and life will be somewhat better.
@gollu shure running with bluetooth, may aswell buy $5 wallmart earbuds
@tc4101
We don't know yet what's the quality of the streaming. And as I've already cashed in for the Shure, here it comes to connect.
@tc4101
Utter garbage, you have no idea what you're talking about. A2DP has a theoretical bandwidth limit of 768kbps and a practical limit of 723kbps, which is far, far, FAR more than needed for the average consumer's compressed music collection. They key differentiator is in the execution, as poor compression algorithms or an underpowered decoder/encoder and cause problems. But, A2DP is more than up to the task of high-quality audio when done right.
sweet, my 3030 was getting long in the tooth. this form factor will serve me better than the silly little plastic clip the other one had
@Wikimon Im having the 3030 too and wondering if this will be worth an upgrade, seems to be the same just another form factor?
as you said, just another different form-factor, really
i'm hoping this new one will play just a tad louder than the 3030. that was my only real complaint with that one
some people like to jam HARD... you dig?
@Wikimon
I do not like my 3030, it has a horrible background white noise no matter which device I use it with. Hopefully this one won't have that.
@fincan
the 3030 was dreadful:
poor battery life
bad audio quality
inconsistent registering of button pressing
very quiet
some pairing issues when pairing with a second device
lack of customer support
very nice
This is a nice design. Now why is it 2010 and the iPod Nano STILL doesn't have frickin bluetooth?
Sweet Jabra bra.

I'm just saying...
@ventivent
It would be sick if apple made the #rd 4th gen style bluetooth headset like this. i would buy that in a heart beat.
@ventivent
those are a lottery - the one I have lasts 30mins with skype
was thinking to pull it apart and solder on a better battery
does it do fwd & reverse
it needs to have 12 hours battery life for talk/music , else it just ends up running out of power at an inopportune time.
with the new bigger devices coming out , like the dell mini 5 and notion ink adam , more people will be wanting bluetooth stereo headsets with some serious battery.
I also wouldn't mind one that can be charged at the same time as it is being used , as none of the 3 I have owed have allowed me to do this
I've heard that all BT headsets have horrible hissing background noise. I'm guessing that unless they've made some significant advancement this one will be the same. HGuess we'll have to wait and hear some reviews.
@GadgetGeezer
I've had the Jabra BT3030 and currently use the Nokia BH-214- both sounded great, better that what I expected of Bluetooth stereo audio.
I use them during my commute, so it's not a pristine audio environment, but I'm positive there is no discernible hiss with either of these headsets.
I'm very happy with the Nokia unit I have now but these new Jabras would get consideration should I seek a replacement.
I've been looking for something just like this, but that is capable of using the microphone from the headset (so, it would need a female TRRS connection rather than the normal TRS connection). No luck, yet...

No FM radio, no deal. Everything else seems cool.
Why is it so difficult for some BT headset makers to give all features (FM, choice of using your own headphones, etc.) that others do? Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Jabra and others make nice units that just miss the mark.
