Lego Cubestormer robot solves Rubik's Cube in sub-12 second whirlwind (video)
Robots born with the sole purpose of solving the Rubik's Cube are nothing new, but we're pretty sure we haven't seen one crack the code in under a dozen seconds before. The Cubestormer, which is built from a myriad Lego Mindstorm kits, recently took hold of the famous block and lined up every color without breaking a sweat. Oh, and did we mention that it took less than 12 seconds? It's worth noting again, either way. Hop on past the break and mash play to have your mind blown, not to mention your own intelligence insulted.

@plyr58 Why would I listen to a guy whose username is short for 'plyer'? Are you a plumber?
@b3ar
Plumber doesn't have a "y" in it.
Can someone make me an invisible machine that fits over my hands so it looks like I'm solving a Rubix Cube?
the Nokia one is pretty cool too .. they also have the 4X4X4 solver done in java on the N95 8G .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7P7GfKFw90
Can it still do it without the sticker in the middle of the white squares?
@kloan The camera feed from the robot (on the laptop screen) actually appears to be looking at the other side of the cube in the main photo, and not all the sides have a sticker on them.
However, I guess it could be a starting point or something for it.
Plyr58, i wuz thinking da same thing
Christ, they never should have turned comments back on :(

@RITarded09 I think the real problem is that they didn't ban enough of the idiots.
I see its hooked up to a netbook, how about hooking that thing up to a desktop with an Intel i7 in it, would it go faster? I wonder....
@SDreamer It would be solved faster, but it's limited by the speed of the motors and camera.
I feel the need to join the parity and throw in my two bits:
10110101101...
I must build one of these NOW. Maybe it'll cook my eggs in the morning too.

That thing is on crack! Kudos to the creator!
A little note on the cube tho: To solely be able to solve it is simple memorization. I don't deem it "intelligent" to solve it for the 50th time when in the beginning what you did was to look up the instructions. The real challenge is to figure it out by yourself, THAT I find truly impressive.
That being said, I've not mastered the cube myself. I refuse to look up the instructions, and if some day I manage to solve it, I want to get there by myself.

No app for this ?
bet DROID cant..
even if it didn't solve cubes I cant help but be impressed with how cool the thing looks.
All this below in hex and binaries really mean something? I wonder how to understand that>
@Endrowid
mine does - it is key to life on earth, but i doubt many will recognize it.
I like the credit given to Michelle Dobson. Very classy!
That was absolutely amazing! But can you #u*k it? lol
Why hasn't anybody picked this up?
CubeStormer is a FAKE - watch closely, when hand takes finished cube away from robot you can clearly see that the whole movie is produced backwards! Cube wiggles (settles) before hand touches it. Still quite a feat to build a Lego machine with that sort of dexterity. However, the man's a fraud!
