Motorola MOTOROI hands-on with video

The Motorola MOTOROI is definitely a stunner, but the looks are almost surpassed by just how amazing it feels, it glows with quality -- think Milestone, but somehow nicer. The display and UI on this Android 2.0 set are right on, with no lag to speak of -- in our really limited hanging-from-a-tether-being-jostled take on it -- while flipping about the OS. Sadly, like most other sets on display, the internet wasn't going anywhere for us to really take it for a spin. But, hey, the MOTOROI is apparently headed to the US in March, and we're without a doubt going to get a little more in-depth with this phone just as soon as we're able.

Damn Motorola is Cranking them out. Just remember to support them, My Cliq needs some bug fixes.
@grydlok
If this phone is running Motoblur on top of Android 2.0, then that bodes pretty well for the Cliq.
@Theli It's not running Motoblur judging from the pictures and videos. Stock android with some vendor widgets it seems.
@grydlok Its blur. Look at the homescreen. The blue button = Blur
@Theli they posted this earlier on Facebook. CLIQ is due to get an upgrade by end of March.

@grydlok Exactly, they're cranking them out.
I'm gonna call it - Motorola's made a fatal flaw by mass-producing all of the nearly-identical Android handsets so far with MotoBLUR on almost each and every single @#%#@ one of them.
Meet the next-gen line of RAZR, people.
@MrGlitch erm, oops, Q2, not Q1
@grydlok
Yes Moto seems on the right path now that they're wedded to Android, but the Milestone did'nt convinceme enough to replace my little Hero and I'm not sure that this Motoroi is a better choice than a N1 in 5/6 weeks here in scandinavia will be available also the SE X10 and probably HTC Bravo or Supersonic and among these 3 or maybe 4 I'll pick a worthy successor to my Hero.
My HTC HD2 , is gonna stay with me until I can grab a W7 series specimen.
@iCello on the phone info screen in the pictures, There isn't a Blur revision number listed.
@grydlok It seems likely that the majority of the MOTOROI’s specifications will make it over to the US, including the 8-megapixel camera, 720p HD video recording, 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen and high-speed GSM connectivity. However we expect Motorola to strip out the T-DMB digital TV tuner that the Korean market will enjoy: http://bit.ly/motorola-motoroi-features-caveats
@dragonfli you say that like it's a bad thing. If this thing takes off like the RAZR, as you suggest, then Android will be a household name. Literally.
That name is just plain weird...
@Matej Bajan: Sounds like hemorrhoid, no?
@aubreyq
motor oil
Do i choose a Windows series7 phone with confusing home screen or an android /Symbian^3. Since symbina^3 is not out yet Android with its usefull home screens is for me & which do i choose, this one with 8 megapixel XENON flash & 720p video.
Nice on Motorola.
@surethom
After seeing all today, im leaning towards Symbian^3 with a bit of MeeBlow in 2011.
@surethom You will have to go with Android. It is simply the best and will be even better with flash 10.1, a whole load of 3d games and choices of at least 5 top internet browsers to choose from. And anyway Symbian 3 and Winmo 7 will only start coming out on new phones at the end of the year. I'm not waiting that long to even see a review of them to know what they are like.
This Motoro has some awasome specs for sure, not many will beat it this year expect the Samsung with pico projector, if you like the Touchwiz 3 that is and it will also only be out near the end of the year from reports.
The interface looks so outdated. Windows 7 Series has tainted me.
@Slvrgun
I know what you mean, even Sense looks a little poor to me now. My mind has been corrupted!
@Slvrgun yeah.. after wim7 series... i kida lost interest.. and confused... I need phone upgrad, but don't know what to do!
@Sam5959
I have the Hero and know exactly what you mean. It's one of the reasons I switched the Android Platform. If it weren't for the lack of apps on the Palm devices I'd be using WebOS.
@Slvrgun Yeah... Win 7 phone looks so good,... But I don't like MS... And I bet it won't work with my mac, and it isn't coming out for a lot of months... So should I get this or the Samsung Beam if it comes out soon? Or wait and get something on verizon once my contracts up? Or what I really want, an unlocked Palm device with a bigger screen/better cam then the Pre? Or should I get the Nexus One? Or the Droid? Argh... To many choices. Why can't there just b one perfect phone?
@iCello
There is a perfect phone - windows mobile 7 - but I guess you're too much of a r3b3l to use an MS product.
@iCello
You'll be waiting forever with that mentality. There is always something new and better tomorrow. Just get what you like and can afford with the expectation that something will be better than it down the road. If you follow that you'll never be disappointed...unless you're an Iphone owner...you'll be crying everyday (especially with how slow apple release major updates).
@Slvrgun: agreed. At this point, MAYBE one of the HTC Sense packin' new Android phones will entice me, but I've got a bit of time left on my contract, so I'm going to see what else is announced re WP7S before making the plunge.
I just hope that MS announces the media sharing function of Windows 7 will work with the new OS.
@Slvrgun The problem with Windows mobile 7 is it is over complicated you look at the home screen & scratch your head for a minute, with android it is 100% customisable & you can install third party home screens which I believe in Windows Mobile 7 had been stopped.
@uwaga dude Or maybe you're too much of a Microsoft fan? Seriously, go look at all your posts. If you look hard enough you might even see yourself proclaiming a phone as perfect when you haven't even used it. Seriously, It's not even the Apple fans out there that are the worst, they may be crazy in love with Apple, but it's you Windows lovers that create the hostile environment.
Keeping it on topic, I don't understand why people are comparing the MOTOROI to Windows 7 Series... Take the phone for whats its worth, a phone that gives you a great Android experience along with nice design.
@Slvrgun Yeah, ur right. I actually am an iPhone user currently, but am definitely not getting that as my next phone, just to frustratingly locked into only doing what apple wants me to do.
If they remove that awkward bulge they have my approval.
@RyanWhit123
thats what she said.
@RyanWhit123
The bulge is for the camera controls. Being how sweet the camera is on it, I wouldn't mind the bulge.
Dear Motorola: Please follow the naming system that cars do. Name your entry level phones your 3-series. Mid is now 5-series and High-end will now be call 7-series. There. Confusion has ceased.
@Chi
Not all phones follow the BMW naming scheme.
@Chi
7 series? Like Windows Phone 7 Series?
@sintricate Oh I know. Was just a suggestion. I know my Blackberry phones but I know the average users thinks that every time a new Blackberry is released, it's better than the previous one - which is not always true.
@ChazClout Speaking of Windows Phone 7 series....*drool*
@Chi Its a good suggestion, although you said cars, not BMW.
@iCello I was trying not to advertise that brand. ;-P
So basically follow Intel with the Core i3, i5 and i7?
I wish they would of added stock android onto this thing.
but i REALLY hope T-Mobile picks this up.
@jayy337 Seriously. Why does T-Mobile get all the lower end Motorola Android phones?
@Chi All indications are that's Tmobile's choice...
MotoReturnOnInvestment?
o_O
Damn, Engadget is going for the gold!
I have been waiting for some coverage on this beast....Looks a lot like my next phone....now wheres that bin for my apple?
I don't know too many Motorola fan boys, or strong supporters. Motorola's always seem to break/stop working properly absurdly fast for me... I won't buy em any more, and probably never will...
it looks like motoblur. trash.
Way more practical (Xenon flash etc) and appealing than today's Win 7 from MS. Motorola are back. Period.
@Oflife If AT&T would get over the iPhone, Moto would be doing gang busters.
@Oflife Um... I'm no winmo fan or anything but xenon flash is hardware, and ms didn't show any Win Phone 7 hardware except that reference device which is not coming to market.
