Commodore PET caught running Windows Phone 7 Series?
We're not sure what to think of this one, but it would be remiss of us not to pass it along to you. On one hand, pics like this can be faked pretty easily these days. Yet again, the tipster seemed pretty convincing: he used the term "datassette" like he knew what he was talking about. We'll let you be the judge, OK?
Update: We have received one further image, which seems a little more... plausible? Not really -- but you can scope it after the break nonetheless. Thanks, Lincoln!

I really hope this is a gag post. I love ya Engadge, but I can't believe you would run this as a breaking serious blog post. April 1st is still a few months away.
I have seen a PET in action and there is no way this could be done outside of Photoshop without scooping all the hardware out and fillinf the innards with a netbook (smarkbook, bucking megatrends) or something.
OMG! I used to use one of those at work. The year was 1978.
Has an IEEE-488 port on the back to control HP lab instruments.
Disco, Jimmy Carter & Commodore Pet - Those were the days.
lol i thought the engadget poster's would have been smarter not to realise an obvious fake :P
Methinks Engadget is overestimating the mental capacity of their readers.
It's a CRT touchscreen! Whooo!
This image means that:
- WP7 is so light even a Commodore could run it. (squashing WM reputation)
- WP7 is directed at the masses (iPhone crowd) who won't be able to see the feathering.
I think instead of breaking news, this post requires a JOKE tag.
Preferably in capitals, bold, and 3D incase some of the readers have just visited the 3D premiere of Toy Story 2 and have forgot to take their OH SO COOL glasses off.
Actually, the Commodore PET can't display graphics or colors, only green-on-black text, which is why it was clobbered by the Apple II. Nice try, Engadget.

I've heard it's coming to T-Mobile! They're just trying to work out the battery life and 3G (+ the fitting in your pocket part of a phone). Can't wait. HAHAHA.
On 8kb Ram, i doubt it would be fun at all for it to run Winmo 7 ;P
KIRF! Move on, nothing to see here.
Ahem... Now to flash 10.1 support... Let:adobeflash={true} if:getvalu...bzzzz... BSOD. Oh c**p...
I bet it runs flash.
I actually have a working Commodore PET. I was in my early teens when my father bought it new. I learned to program in BASIC on it. Hmm...I wonder what its worth?

@eboltz
porting WM7 would be extremely hard because that has never been invented yet
now porting WP7S wouldn't be a problem
if your gonna try to crack a joke.at least know what you talking about;)
Ooooooooooooooooooh snap! Commodore is back from out of NOWHERE!
BTW I understand that this is not going to be multitasking or running flash? What's up with that!?
mega lol at all the ppl taking this seriously, u guys make these jokes hilarious
Haha...love the breaking news tag. Awesome.
Highest Ranked. Joke.
lol obvious fake, but it's still funny.
damn thing look like a cash register lol
100% true, someone send me the rom i put it on my tamagotchi
Remembered that in the early 80'ties I watched Allan, which was one of the guys later to do MySQL, working on a database on a PET just like this one at a store in Stockholm. However there is no way that you could even think of having a big and slow OS such as Windows 7 Phone on a little machine like the PET. No way. Even if you would patch each remotely left out space at the load ...
wow, plenty of users here need a sense of humour dose.
