Motorola MT710 quick hands-on
We've already had a quick look at the Korean Motorola MOTOROI, and we figured it was only fair if we gave the Motorola MT710 a fair shake, too. The MT710 is running the Android-based Ophone OS on some pretty sweet hardware including an 854 x 480 FWVGA resistive touchscreen display -- to help with Chinese handwriting recognition we'd bet -- replacing HSPA 3G with TD-SCDMA for 3G, and a pretty slick housing accented in reflective and red metals. Of course the MT710 isn't meant for our market, but we're still encouraged to see how many Android sets are cropping up here at the show and indeed from Motorola.

How can the same company that brought us such blocky-shaped phones like the Droid, bring us such nicely designed phones such as this MT710?
@Hazdaz
LOL!
Because this one was 75% designed by Jonny Ive?
@Wesscoast I wonder if there's anything like Godwin's Law but for people yelling out iPhone similarities at ANY smartphone released...
@Hazdaz because customers with China Mobile are willing to pay through the roof to buy this phone, unlocked though.
@Hazdaz Ask your top notch, always looking out for the consumer US carriers. Chances are it's their doing.
@hq : We'll call it Ive's Law
@Hazdaz Actually mt710 is like a baby bro of xt710 which has another version which is reaching asia as well. So at least, we could be sure that android is spreading to the whole world now. : http://bit.ly/motorola-asia-phones-unleash
Motorola sure is feasting on the Free Android OS, wow. Not even a Brew phone since, not to talk of WinMo.
@SetThemStraight Wait a sec, I thought Ophone OS was developed by Lenovo. Why are they just giving it out to Moto?
@ndrwme
the oPhone OS was by China Mobile not Lenovo
But will it run windows phone 7 series?
@broli No, but it will run Android.
I played with this in person. Awesome piece of hardware:
Light, feels like 40% lighter than droid,
3.7 HD screen,
FM TV Tuner.
Front facing camera for video conferencing and broadcasting online.
700 USD though.
That looks like an.....ah forget it.
Hmm, so they only wanted to copy 3 sides of the iPhone?
@Kid Red
the way motorola designed the back does make it look like a camera rather than a carved metal block phone...
wow, looks nice, i wanna get this in america
"The MT710 is running the Android-based Ophone OS...to help with Chinese handwriting recognition we'd bet..."
And covert monitoring by the Chinese government. But hey, what's a little violation of privacy amongst comrades?
