Dell Mini 5 docking station with HDMI port spotted in bizarre Greek video
Wow, some nice gadget fairy has just made our wish come true! Soon after our Dell Mini 5 impressions post went live, eagle-eyed reader unclepain reported that the phone's docking station has made a quiet appearance in T3 Greek Edition's bizarre hands-on video (seriously, we get the "DELLICIOUS" joke, but does that poor bloke really have to stand like that throughout the video?). According to the tiny bit of English we heard, the dock will have HDMI output and a USB port (for connecting to the computer, we presume) on the back. You can also see the short transparent back support when the presenter undocks the phone. Now, bundle this with Mini 5 or throw it à la carte at a reasonable price and we're sold. Eccentric footage after the break.
[Thanks, unclepain]

Come on Michael Dell , give us some dates. What's with all the random people having access to this hardware. I was in 7-Eleven today and the Clerk had one..
I don't want it as a 3G phone -- hope price is low enough so I can use WiFi w/o subsidy.
@dblevins
Well, couldn't you get a data plan only? If AT&T is going to offer a $29.95 data-only plan for the MaxiPad, I wonder if they'll do the same for the Mini.
@Spiny Norman I'm cheap, I wanna use WiFi for all data and voice. Why should I pay AT&T $30/mo when I could get most/all of what I need via WiFi?
@touchmygadget
Are you saying you're Greek? ... because your posting is chock full of stupidity ... even though you thought you were "doing something special and funny".
"and send it has", "station locks good", "Stupid video tough" ...
Wow ... you really didn't even try to challenge us.
well thank god for being half Greek. well it does looking promising . i wish he actually showed the speed of the browser instead of just saying "its a very good browser " ! ! ! oh well . we shall have to wait and see how good this phone is when it is actually released . but why do GREEK tech reviewers get this piece of hardware and not guys in the U.S ? also i wouldn't mind seeing it run the latest version of android .
@KLegSY Not guys in the US? We have it too! http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/19/dell-mini-5-prototype-impressions/
@KLegSY I'd rather see it running Windows Phone 7 Series !
@Richard Lai thanks . i must have missed that one .
For those who are still wondering, the sign after the dumb "dellicious" one, wrote "Pan-european exclusivity". Other than that, the guy didn't say anything of note. Amusingly, the most important stuff mentioned were the technology terms in English, lol.
Mini tablet and phone (support flash) = Ultra combo. Price below iPad = finish him.
"let us cavort like the Greeks of old! (in lower voice) you know the ones I mean." -hedonism bot
it's funny how everyone here is talking about this dell... How about the archos 5? It's running android, 5" screen, GPS, 720p, HDMI port, USB ports, DVR station, archos 7 said to be coming out with a camera... I don't understand how archos can be so over looked... Ohh ya, and the archos 5 is out now... They even have a 500gb version for all you people that want 18 years of music!
@robdmau I think the key is mobile Internet experience. Having a large screen for just videos isn't enough these days.
@robdmau
I used to have an archos 5 (pre android). They just aren't built very well. I had to send it in to get fixed 3 times in one year. Granted one time it was my fault, but still. They are buggy and just not as good as a lot of other products. I like the idea of 500GB but the hard drives tend to slow things down. Plus, it isn't a phone. If I'm going to be carrying it around in my pocket, I don't want to have to carry my phone around too.
Ready....to....buy...now!!..now now now!!
Screen can be a bit more responsive. Looked jumpy with the pinch to zoom. The UI needs tweaking but it looks to be a solid device.
I bought and read T3 religiously while I was still in Greece. I miss it so much. Now they want $70/year for 13 issues of the stupid T3 UK...
It seems to me this is one of those devices that, if they can sell it for 200 bucks, it will be the best thing ever. If it sells for 600, nobody will bother.
I really like an updated Nokia N810 idea. This wouldn't replace my laptop, but it would replace the need to take my laptop as many places as I do.
The only thing missing is a sweet kick-stand, like on the Archos 5.
Greeks are very interesting subculture :) you can read about them from Buy ambien
