This is so creepy, and also is a lie. The students had said that the light would come on and when they'd ask they were told it was a glitch. Why does the school feel the need to "locate" a laptop a student has and then lie when they ask what's going on?
@JONNNathannn The laptop was missing and belongs to the school. So like all of the theft recovery software for the Mac, they turned on the camera.
You guys need to worry more about the NSA listening to your phone calls, reading texts, and your email rather than the school trying to recover a missing laptop.
@bullshitexpresscom The thing is, we don't know those people, and thay do it without us realizing, but only do it for an actual good cause. The admins in the school are wrong for doing it because they probably never sent an email out to students for it, they lied to it, and kids KNOW who was looking at them. That's the worst thing. I'd rather have a complete stranger watching over me rather than someone I know.
@bullshitexpresscom Id rather have some listen in to my phone calls and read my texts and emails than have my webcam turned on remotely without me realising. I for one don't have anything incriminating to say over the phone or email, but my laptop screen is open most of the time when i get changed. This is a far greater invasion of privacy than anything the government does, it's just like the Telescreens from 1984.
@bullshitexpresscom Worry about the local police. Worry about the FBI Worry about the CIA
The NSA doesn't care about you. They don't prosecute people for speeding, drugs, or even murder. Their job is to collect information on organizations that want to harm us on a large scale.
Exactly, and that puts paid to that particular line of bull$#!+. The comment about the cameras being glitchy or whatever just goes to show that there were people who were using the remote access capabilities of those computers for things that they shouldn't have been.
