iPhone SDK 3.2 moves on to beta round 3
As we march toward the inevitability of a post-iPad world, so marches the development of iPhone SDK 3.2 -- and this time, we're on to beta 3. There's no word yet on what's changed, but unless you're a registered (and paid) member of Apple's iPhone Developer Program, it doesn't much matter to you seeing how you can't get in on the download. Keep us abreast of the trials, tribulations, highs, and lows of your downloads and installs, won't you?Update: TUAW now reports that beta 3's been pulled, but it's not yet clear why. We'll fill you in more as we find out.
Update 2: iPadInsider reports that a Photos app has been added to the emulator, and there's a Camera tab in it -- possibly corroborating evidence that there'll be a camera in some version of the iPad, but more likely a tool for the camera connection kit.
Update 3: MacRumors has a couple more interesting details. Looks like there's a couple of lines in the code that suggest a front-facing camera (as often rumored), zoom, and camera flash is in the cards. Additionally, there's iPad-sized "Accept" and "Decline" buttons with video camera-related iconography. We know what you're thinking, but we still wouldn't advise getting your hopes up anytime soon. It's not good for your heart, y'know.
Update 3: ...and it's back up. Thanks, everyone!

I would like to point out that in the Beta 2 apple removed the "Take a photo" button in address book. Just interesting. Don't think anyone else caught that!
@Jacob Apple Geek And I don't have the Beta 3 yet! Still on Beta2!
@Jacob Apple Geek
Na, it's been caught. Lol
@Jacob Apple Geek OFF TOPIC: Has anyone else had the engadget homepage be slow to load and have very choppy scrolling? It's been amazing in the past but recently its been terrible. Anyone else?
(Sorry didn't know where else to ask this. Engadget should create a forum)
@werty1432k Yes. It has been really slow. I've had the same type of problems too.
@Musicytechgeek
for me is really slow too, I have to wait 3-4 seconds before I can scroll...
@Musicytechgeek Its been fine for me. Then again.... I'm am Mac so everything is better! :D
@Jacob Apple Geek *I am a Mac
@Jacob Apple Geek I'm on a mac as well using safari and its just been bad as of late.
@werty1432k Its been fine on my MBP using s/c/f but using IE (don't know which version but probably 6?) at work it has been God-awful.
@werty1432k
No problems on an HP HDX 16 in Firefox or IE8
@werty1432k
It's IE6 that's the issue. I've just upgraded my work pc to IE8 and it now runs fine. It was choppy as hell before.
Yeah, Apple suddently removed beta 3 for no reason so far. According to the people that DID get it, it's because of a "BIG" bug.
@johnhmeyer123 Ok.... i was wondering
@johnhmeyer123
Though everyone is sticking to their NDAs and not telling us what this BIG bug is!
@martynmcfarquhar I wish they would! Was it an install bug or did apple add a camera app!?!
Ya.... nice apple. :)
Amazing Apple hasn't developed an update system for these SDK's for minor changes. Not only do you have to wait 20-30 min. before the download is done, no you have to reinstall everything (Xcode, iPhone SDK 1,2,3, 3.2 etc.) and on my MBP it takes another half hour.
They pulled beta 3.

@iPadInsider Hey you are the owner of the almighty and old iPadInsider!
So when is the android engadget coming?
I hope someone designs an iPhone app for the iPad.
How about a revamping of the HD2? With 6.5 it was a waste of great piece of hardware...
@Calrizaen Wrong discussion *facepalm*
Does anybody know if 3.2 will be exclusive to the iPad or will it be coming out as an update sometime this spring? I've been trying to find some info but I haven't been able to come across anything.
Can anybody explain why the ipad simulator have a thinner bezel? it looks much better in the simulator.
@johnjohn
Can you explain why you want the SDK to have a giant bezel?
@Luke Gives you the real feel. I like it that way!
@Luke I don't whant a giant bezel on the simulator, it just sucks that the bezel looks better on the simulator than the phisical ipad. Just wondering why the diference? this would look awsome on my car center dasboard. Just need to find a nice holder for it.....
@johnjohn and "feels" like a bigger screen...
@Luke
Cuz you... don't hold... software?
*back away slowly from the crazy person

Looks like they had a camera button:

@TerryHarmanUK
I'm 99% sure that that is just for the iPad Camera Connection Kit:

You plug in your SD card and can import the photos into the "Camera" tab in the Photo App. Nothing to see here...
@timshundo
Ah I know :(
The other sites seem to be reporting that now, ah well, one can still hope...
It's a trap!
I heard they already taking preorders for ipad. Is that true?
@phoneindex
Not true. They still only have a 'Notify Me' link on their page.
For those who think iPad can't do video chat is bad and think
it will be an enhance feature for iPad v.2.
Have you thought about Apple may release a external video camera ?
First, not everybody need video chat so it better be optional.
Second, the external video camera may have arm to adjust
the angle instead of focus on your nose.
If I'd planne dto buy the thing, this would just mean:
Don't buy the first version, wait for the 2nd or even third line.
To me this couldn't be more obvious. Apple is going to release a version 1 iPad with no camera. Next year they will release version 2 with a camera, and everybody will upgrade. This is their M.O. They released the iPhone with no 3G and no GPS. Waited a year, released version 2 with 3G and a GPS. They are smart. Ruthless, but smart.
